The invention provides a high-strength stamped aluminum brazed turbine for use in an automotive transmission torque converter, and a method therefor. The method includes stamping aluminum inner and outer shells each having a plurality of slots, and stamping a plurality of aluminum turbine blades having tabs. The tabs of the turbine blades are inserted into the slots of the inner and outer shell, and the tabs are bent to attach the turbine blades to the inner and outer shell. The turbine blades are brazed to the inner and outer shell with a silicon material, thereby forming a turbine of sufficient strength to operate in the powerflow path of an automotive transmission using transmission oil as its working fluid.
Dynamic-Content Web Crawling Through Traffic Monitoring

Abstract:
A dynamic-content web crawler is disclosed. These New Crawlers (NCs) are located at points between the server and user, and monitor content from said points, for example by proxying the web traffic or sniffing the traffic as it goes by. Web page content is recursively parsed into subcomponents. Sub-components are fingerpinted with a cyclic redundancy check code or other loss-full compression in order to be able to detect recurrence of the sub-component in subsequent pages. Those sub-components which persist in the web traffic, as measured by the frequency NCs () are defined as having substantive content of interest to data-mining applications. Where a substantive content sub-component is added to or removed from a web page, then this change is significant and is sent to a duplication filter () so that if multiple NCs () detect a change in a web page only one announcement of the changed URL will be broadcast to data-mining applications (). The NC () identifies substantive content sub-components which repeatably are part of a page pointed to by a URL. Provision is also made for limiting monitoring to pages having a flag authorizing discovery of the page by a monitor.
The filter housing has a filter outlet portion with a central filter outlet passage. The outlet portion includes a terminal end portion defining a filter nozzle. The filter nozzle forms a nozzle passage between the filter nozzle and the pump housing. The nozzle passage communicates with an annular recess formed in the filter outlet portion. The annular recess receives return bypassed hydraulic fluid from a regulator valve for distribution into an inlet stream of fluid flowing through the filter outlet passage. The inlet stream velocity is increased which increases the pressure at the pump inlet. The increased pressure at the pump inlet allows the pump to operate at higher speeds without cavitation.

Abstract:
A dual clutch engine coupling damper includes a slipping ECCC clutch in series with a plurality of damper springs, and a bypass clutch in parallel with the damper springs. The ECCC is adapted for use when the vehicle engine is running and the bypass clutch is adapted for use when the vehicle engine is being started. The dual clutch engine coupling damper incorporates a single pressure plate design adapted to actuate both the ECCC clutch and the bypass clutch. The single pressure plate design is compact and minimizes axial space requirements for the apparatus. Additionally, the components of the present invention are primarily stamped parts which may be produced in an inexpensive and efficient manner.

Abstract:
The apparatus of the present invention provides a compact dual-pump assembly for an automotive transmission. The dual-pump assembly preferably includes a housing having a valve assembly mounted thereto. The valve assembly includes a shuttle valve disposed in fluid communication with a pressure regulating valve. An on-axis pump is mounted to the housing in fluid communication with the shuttle valve and the pressure regulating valve. An off-axis pump in fluid communication with the shuttle valve is mounted to the housing in close proximity to the on-axis pump such that the dual-pump assembly is compact.
Dual Input Clutch Transmission With Torque Converter Pump Drive
GM Global Technology Operations, Inc. - Detroit MI
International Classification:
F16D 33/00
US Classification:
192 327
Abstract:
A dual-input clutch transmission is provided having a torque converter with a rotatable hub, the transmission comprising a transmission pump having internal fluid channels and a rotor set which is drivingly connected to the hub, and a dual-input clutch in fluid communication with the transmission pump through the fluid channels. The pump and torque converter are positioned along a common axis of rotation, the pump circumscribing the torque converter hub to reduce axial space. The dual-input clutch is mounted to the transmission pump housing for structural support. A method is also provided for reducing axial space within a dual-input clutch transmission having a torque converter, including providing an on-axis transmission pump with a housing and rotor set, providing a torque converter with a rotatable hub which is drivingly connected to the rotor set for powering of the transmission pump, and mounting the dual-input clutch to the pump housing for support.
Hydraulic System For A Transmission With Pump Inlet Diffuser
A hydraulic system for a transmission has a diffuser housing with a fluid inlet passage that feeds one or more pump inlet ports, and a fluid return passage, such as to return fluid from a pressure regulator valve, that is in fluid communication with the fluid inlet passage. The hydraulic system also has a filter housing with a filter outlet portion that is in fluid communication with the fluid inlet passage upstream of the pump inlet port(s). The fluid return passage is downstream of the filter outlet portion. Thus, flow through the fluid return passage can create suction, causing increased flow through the filter outlet portion, such as from a fluid sump. Specifically, the diffuser housing is configured so that the fluid inlet passage has a converging portion downstream of the filter outlet portion and a diverging portion downstream of the converging portion.
