Abstract:

A trash receptacle sterilization apparatus having ultraviolet sterilization in an enclosed container to kill bacteria and other disease carrying organisms. The receptacle has a vertical container into which a user places trash, other trash receptacles or other objects to be sterilized. An ultraviolet source within the container irradiates the trash receptacle thereby killing any microorganisms that might reside on or in the trash receptacles. Ultraviolet radiation below 200 nm can also be used thereby creating ozone gas having germicidal characteristics. The ozone gas is circulating in and around the trash receptacles thereby providing further sterilization together with the ultraviolet radiation. An interlocking switch turns the UV source off when the container is opened.

Abstract:

A computer input device sterilization apparatus having ultraviolet sterilization in an enclosed container to kill bacteria and other disease carrying organisms. The invention comprises a horizontal or vertical container dimensioned to fit over computer input devices such as keyboards, mice, trackballs, touchpads and the like. An ultraviolet source within the container irradiates the computer input device with UV light which, in one embodiment generates ozone gas, thereby killing any microorganisms that might reside on the computer input devices. Ultraviolet radiation below 200 nm can also be used thereby creating ozone gas having germicidal characteristics. The ozone gas is circulated in and around the input device thereby providing further sterilization together with the ultraviolet radiation. A sterilization switch turns the UV source off when the container is opened. A timer/power circuit provides the times application of power to the UV lamps to provide UV illumination consistent with the substantial sterilization of the input device in question.

Abstract:

A system and method for determining telephone status over a network. The system and method provides for off hook status to be determined by a switch or other monitor that then provides that information to a telephone status file. The telephone status file is accessible over the Internet by computer so that a calling party can first determine if the called party is on the telephone. Thus wasted time in making calls that cannot be completed is avoided. The system operates over normal PSTNs, over cable systems, and over the Internet.

Abstract:

A telephone sterilization apparatus and method having ultraviolet sterilization of the mouthpiece and earpiece of a telephone handset. The invention has an ultraviolet source within the earpiece and mouthpiece cradles of a telephone handset cradle. The telephone handset engages a seal around the earpiece and mouthpiece which blocks UV illumination from a user and seals in ozone gas that is produced by UV source below 200 nm. The UV source illuminated the earpiece and mouthpiece of a telephone handset when the handset is in telephone handset cradle. When in the telephone handset cradle, the handset engages a switch, which signals a timer/power circuit, which provides a timed application of power to the UV source(s). The duty cycle of the UV source is timed for substantially complete sterilization of the telephone handset. Minute amounts of ozone gas surround the earpiece and mouthpiece of the telephone handset providing more complete sterilization.

Abstract:

An animal training device for administering audio and physical encouragement to an animal. An animal worn device comprising sod and shock producing elements is attached to a leash or lead. A transducer or similar strength measuring means is connected to the shock and sound producers of the animal worn device. The leash or lead is connected to the transducer. As the animal pulls of the lead, the transducer measures the strength of the pull. When the pull strength of the naimal reaches a first level, an audio tone is sounded. If the strength of pull exceeds a second level a shock is administered to the animal. In this fashion the animal learns not to pull to hard on a lead. In an alternate embodiment, the trainer has a transmitter with variable signal strength. The animal worn device had a receiver that senses the signal strength. IF the signal strength drops to a preset limit indicative of distance from the transmitter, a tone is sounded.
