Abstract:

An exemplary method for controlling audio data being communicated between a plurality of users over a packet based network comprises steps of combining a plurality of audio data streams into a single master stream, receiving at least one volume value for at least one of the plurality of audio data streams from each of the plurality of users, and creating a second or decompositor stream for each of the plurality of users using the at least one volume value from said each of the plurality of users. The exemplary method further includes steps of creating a volume adjusted master stream for each of the plurality of users by modifying the master stream with the decompositor stream for said each of the plurality of users.

The present invention is directed to methods and computer program products for communicating real time data streams between a plurality of virtual meeting attendees over a digital data network. One exemplary method of the invention includes the steps of receiving a plurality of real time data streams from each of a plurality of virtual meeting attendees, of linking a first and a second of the real time data streams from each of the attendees to a first network interface, of linking only the first data stream from each of the attendees to a second network interface, and of linking only the second data stream from each of the attendees to a third network interface.

Abstract:

A method for controlling real time data communications over a packet based network comprises steps of dynamically measuring data packet loss between a receiver and a sender on the network, dynamically measuring data latency between the sender and receiver, and comparing the dynamically measured data packet loss to a loss limit and comparing the dynamically measured data latency to a latency limit. If one or both of the loss limit or the latency limit is exceeded, then the method may include reducing the rate of data transmission from the sender.

Abstract:

An exemplary method for mapping a network address translator on a packet based network that is between a client and a server comprises the steps of the client communicating a first message including a first client address to the server, the server extracting the first client address, and the server communicating a confirmation to the client including identifying data useful to identify the client to the server. Additional steps comprise the client communicating a mapper message to the server including the identifying data, the mapper message having external client address data when the server receives it, and the server extracting said identifying data and using it to identify the client. An additional step of comparing the external client address data to the first client address and using said comparison to map the one or more security devices is provided.

One example embodiment of the invention is directed to a method for communicating streaming data between a plurality of users participating in a real-time communications event over a packet based data network.
