Abstract:
A surge protector comprises a coaxial through-section having a first inner conductor, a first outer conductor, and a first dielectric disposed between the first inner conductor and the first outer conductor, and a coaxial shorting stub having a second inner conductor and a second outer conductor. The stub has a first end and a second end. The stub being coupled to the coaxial through-section wherein the second inner conductor is conductively coupled to the first inner conductor at the first end of the stub and the second outer conductor is conductively coupled to the first outer conductor at the first end of the stub. The second inner conductor is substantially hollow. The second inner conductor has at least one helical aperture disposed therein. The at least one helical aperture is continuous for at least about one revolution around the second inner conductor. A shorting plate is conductively coupled to the second inner and second outer conductors at the second end of the stub.

Abstract:
Systems and methods of testing active digital radio antennas are presented. Systems and methods can test the active digital radio antenna functioning as both a radio and as an antenna and can test both the transmit and receive performance of the antenna. An electromagnetic probe can scan the antenna to perform the testing and couple to the elements of the antenna using radio frequency signals propagated in the air, as opposed to direct cabling.

Abstract:
An antenna having a passive feed network in one band, and an active radio network in an adjacent band, is provided. The antenna includes radiating elements arranged in an array dimensioned to transmit and receive RF signals. The antenna includes diplexers having a first port, a second port and a third port. The first port of each diplexer coupled to at least one radiating element. The diplexer has a first filter coupling the first port to the second port and a second filter coupling the first port to the third port. A passive feed network includes a phase shifter, which is coupled to an input transmission line and a plurality of output transmission lines. Each of the output transmission lines may be coupled to one of the second ports of one of the diplexers. An active radio is coupled to each of the third ports of the plurality of diplexers.

Abstract:
An antenna comprising a plurality of sub-arrays and methods and structure for restoring performance after a transceiver failure is provided. Each sub-array may include a power divider/combiner network, a first radiating element coupled to a first port of the power divider/combiner network, a second radiating element coupled to a second port of the power divider/combiner network, and a transceiver coupled to a third port of the power divider/combiner network. An adjustable power supply may be coupled to each transceiver, the adjustable power supply having current monitors to detect at least one failure state of a transceiver, and a power compensation mode to increase absolute power to a transceiver in a non-failed state. The adjustable power supply provides a first voltage in normal operation and a second voltage, where the second voltage is higher than the first voltage in power compensation mode.

Abstract:
In one aspect, a transmission line hanger is provided for securing a transmission line having a protective jacket to a supporting structure having an aperture defined by a wall. The transmission line hanger includes a transmission line retention section for retaining a transmission line. The transmission line hanger further includes an extended section extending from the retention section. The extended section includes a spring finger flexibly connected thereto, and projecting inwardly therefrom. The spring finger is configured to penetrate into the jacket once the transmission line is inserted into the hanger. The spring finger minimizes longitudinal movement of the transmission line with respect to the hanger. The extended section, in conjunction with the spring finger, allows the hanger to accommodate a large range of different transmission line diameters.
