Abstract:
A computing device includes: a wireless communication interface; and a processor configured to: establish a connection with a wireless network; while a network-layer status of the connection is active, monitor attributes of the connection at the wireless communication interface, the attributes including (i) a number of uplink packets transmitted since a most recent downlink packet was received, and (ii) a time period elapsed since the most recent downlink packet was received; determine that the attributes meet recovery criteria indicative of a network-layer interruption in the wireless network; in response to the determination, control the wireless communication interface to initiate a recovery action to resolve the network-layer interruption.

Abstract:
A system for robot and human collaboration is provided. The system includes a robot having a programmed path for motion of the robot and a controller in communication with the robot. The controller has a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which is recorded instructions for an action to take when an unexpected contact between the robot and an object is detected. The controller is programmed to execute the instructions from the memory via the processor when the unexpected contact is detected, causing the robot to stop motion on a programmed path and to enter a push away mode. In the push away mode, the human can apply a push force having a push force direction to command the robot to move in the push force direction.

More Children Are Being Poisoned By Prescription Opoioids
That's a good idea in theory, says Jonathan Chen, a physician at Stanford Medicine who has researched how guidelines for prescribing opioids affect primary care. Study: Opioid overprescription a problem for all doctors
"Being a physician myself, I am acutely aware of the emotional angst that can occur when deciding whether to prescribe opioids to a patient who may have simultaneously developed a chronic-pain and substance-dependence problem," said Dr. Jonathan Chen, a professor at Stanford, in a press release.
