Abstract:

A system for treating tissue includes a first fastener including a first anchoring element at a distal end thereof for anchoring the first fastener in a first target portion of tissue extending about a periphery of a tissue defect to be treated and a first suture extending from a proximal end thereof. The system also includes a second fastener including a second anchoring element at a distal end thereof for anchoring the second fastener in a second target portion of tissue extending about a periphery of a tissue defect to be treated and a second suture extending from a proximal end thereof. Furthermore, the system includes a cinch element disposed about both of the first and second sutures and slidable therealong such that a tension applied to the first and second sutures draws the first and second fasteners toward one another to close the tissue defect.

Abstract:

Expandable occlusive plugs and methods of using them are disclosed. The devices generally include an expandable framework at least partially covered by a membrane. The occlusive plugs can be used for occlusion of body lumens and/or to limit migration of embolic agents to non-target sites.

Abstract:

Medical devices and methods for forming the medical devices are disclosed in the present application. In one illustrative example an occlusion balloon comprises an outer balloon member, and an inner balloon member having an inner wall and an outer wall and extending through at least a portion of the outer balloon member. In at least some examples, when forces acting on the inner wall of the inner balloon member equal forces acting on the outer wall of the inner balloon member, the inner balloon member defines a lumen.

Abstract:

Various aspects of the disclosure pertain to blood vessel occlusion devices having a central longitudinal axis and comprising: (a) a hub, (b) a self-expanding support frame comprising a plurality of wire segments forming a plurality of cells, and (c) a covering material covering cells within the transition portion. The support frame may be self-expandable from a constrained shape to an unconstrained shape that comprises (ii) a substantially cylindrical portion having a diameter and an axis that is coincident with the central longitudinal axis, the substantially cylindrical portion comprising a first ring of the cells extending in a 360 rotation around the central longitudinal axis and (ii) a transition portion disposed between the substantially cylindrical portion and the hub. Other aspects for the disclosure pertain to assemblies, kits and methods that employ such devices.
