Abstract:
A rotating adapter for connecting two tubular fluid carrying members in a catheterization system. The adapter (10) includes a standard threaded Luer connector at one end (28) for connection to a flexible catheter, and is rotatably affixed about a stem (22) at its other end. The adapter includes a temporarily expansible collar (40) for engaging with a shoulder (52) on the stem (22) in a snap fit. The shoulder (52) engages an annular rim or undercut (65) located on the interior wall of the collar (40). Notches provided in collar (40) permit the collar to temporarily expand radially to receive the stem, and the collar snaps around the shoulder when the stem is inserted into the shoulder. A tubular reinforcer ring (14) slidably interfits over the collar after the stem is fully inserted into the collar and engages the undercut, thereby resisting radial expansion of the collar during pressurization. The entire rotating adapter is made of injection molded plastic and can be assembled quickly and efficiently by hand, without any special tools for permanently deforming the collar.

Abstract:
An improved angiographic control syringe for use in high-pressure medical procedures. An oblong locking ring disposed on a plunger stem. The oblong locking ring has two circular end segments at the far opposing ends of the ring, and comprises two flat segments at the narrow diameter opposing sides of the ring. A plurality of grooves are vertically spaced on the upper part of the plunger stem. Notches extend inwardly from the flat segments of the locking ring. The exertion of a pinching force on the circular end segments of the locking ring causes convex radial expansion of the flat segments, thereby permitting detachable engagement of the notches with any groove. The plunger head has a highly angular frustoconical head. The syringe barrel has a less angular frustoconical seat that receives the plunger head when the plunger head is fully depressed within the syringe barrel. Due to the difference between the angle of the plunger head and the angle of the seat, a circular air bubble retention cell is formed between the outer wall of the plunger head and the outer wall of the syringe barrel seat when the plunger is fully depressed.

Abstract:
Disposable sterile handle covers for surgical lamps made up of a relatively thin flexible sheet bonded to and protruding through a semi-rigid resilient skirt. The skirt allows the cover to be affixed to the handle by friction alone, thus obviating the need for adhesives. The skirt also obviates the need for a baseplate on the handle and further provides insulation from the heat generated by the lamp. The cover is manufactured with a punch die which simultaneously bonds the sheet and the skirt to each other while cutting the elements into the desired shape.
