Abstract:

In order to fulfill the need for content-subsidizing advertisements to be different when a user's communication unit is away from the user's home geographic location, a location attribute is associated with advertisements. A current location is determined for the user's communication unit, compared to the location attributes, and an advertisement having a location attribute matching the current location is delivered to the communication unit in along with user-desired content.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a method and wireless hand-held computing device for providing personalized, wireless television programming together with program information for programs matching the viewer's preferences. In one embodiment the method includes receiving programming codes in combination with corresponding television programming information and inputting, by a viewer, names of selected programs for viewing. Then, programming software in the wireless hand-held computing device may be used to select, automatically, the programming codes for the selected programs for viewing, to activate the television when the selected programs are broadcast and, where desired, to indicate when at least one television program that matches the viewer's preferences is to be shown.

Abstract:

It is desirable to have an advertisement requested and impression recorded when a user actually sees an entirety of an ad. It is desirable to have the advertisement requested and impression recorded if a user scrolls down a webpage and all processes and functions required to make the ad unit visible on the webpage are completed and when the advertisement's location corresponds to the viewable area of a webpage. That is, the ad could be requested and the impression should be recorded when an ad unit is in a visible viewing area. It is also desirable to provide for greater viewer attention to the ad and for greater control by the advertiser over the manner in which advertising is presented. One aspect is solves these needs by generating, transmitting, and presenting an ad on a webpage when a user scrolls down the page or if a triggering event is detected.
