Abstract:

A mechanism that synchronizes passwords maintained for plural domains. A user maintains accounts in two domains. The first and second domains each maintain tables correlating userIDs with passwords, such that the same user's password can be different in the different domains. A database stores tables that correlate a given user's userID/password combination in the first domain with his corresponding userID/password combination in the second domain. The database is used to sign the user onto one domain when the user is working in the other domain. When the user changes his password in the first domain, the change is reported to the database, so that the database stores the current password. Optionally, the password change may be reported to the second domain, such that the user will have the same password in both domains.

Abstract:

A system that allows a user of a first domain to access a second domain. A request originates in the first domain to perform an action in the second domain. The request indicates a user of the first domain on whose behalf the request was originated. The access request is received by an adapter in the second domain. The adapter requests an access token for a user of the second domain who corresponds to the user of the first domain. A mapping table is used to identify which user in the second domain corresponds to the user in the first domain. Once the correct user of the second domain is identified, an access token for that user is returned to the adapter. The adapter then carries out the requested action by using the access token to impersonate the user of the second domain.

Abstract:

A mechanism is provided for signing on a user of a first domain into an affiliate application in a second domain. When the user needs access to the affiliate application, the request for access causes a ticket to be generated. The ticket identifies the user and is passed to an adapter. The adapter, which ultimately will perform the sign on in the affiliate application, redeems the ticket for the user's credentials (e. g. , a valid userID/password combination for the affiliate application), and then presents the credentials to the affiliate application. A service is provided that issues tickets, redeems tickets, manages the registration and de-registration of affiliate applications, manages the correlation between a user and the user's credentials with an affiliate application, and manages encryption of stored records.

Abstract:

A suspended ceiling system for supporting ceiling panels and the like includes a plurality of main runners, connected in end-to-end relationship to form parallel beams, and a plurality of cross runners interconnecting the parallel beams to form a grid. Each main runner includes an end connector, having an opposed pair of laterally projecting hooks which form a guideway for receipt of the forward end of a corresponding main runner end connector. The face of each end connector is continuous, from one side of the hooks to the other, to provide a bearing surface for sliding the end connectors through their respective guideways. Respective apertures and detents are formed in each end connector to provide opposed engaging surfaces for interlocking the end connectors in side-by-side relationship. The cross runners include respective end connectors which interlockingly engage when inserted from opposite directions through a slot in the web of the main runner. In a first embodiment, respective apertures, formed in the tongue of each end connector, engage respective detents or dimples projecting laterally from the side of each end connector.

Abstract:

An apparatus for constructing an interlocked grid system which may be suspended from the main structure of a building for use as a ceiling panel support is disclosed in which transverse members interlock with suspendable support members. A tongue on each end of opposing transverse members communicates with a rectangular hole in the support member. The upper and lower edge of each tongue is deflected to form upper and lower shoulders which face backward toward the transverse member. Upon insertion of the tongue into the rectangular hole, the shoulders engage the support member at the upper and lower ends of the rectangular hole. The leading end of the tongue is wedged and maintained in position within the orifice by a centrally located reinforcement bead on the opposing transverse member. The reinforcement bead extends across the junction of the tongue with the transverse member to perform a reinforcing function as well as the wedging function. In one embodiment, retaining tab is provided in the tongue for retaining the first transverse member within the support member orifice until the opposing transverse member is inserted to complete the joint.

Abstract:

A separate connector piece for use in constructing a suspended ceiling grid system is provided. The grid system is of the type consisting of a series of parallel longitudinal beams interconnected with a series of perpendicular cross runners. The connector piece is selectively attached to the ends of the cross runners, and forms the interconnections when the cross runners are aligned on opposite sides of a longitudinal beam. The connector pieces of the opposing cross runners extend through a slot located in the longitudinal beam and may be attached to the opposing cross runner, thus forming the interconnection.

Abstract:

A combination light and air ventilation fixture for suspended ceilings is provided. A surrounding frame forms the air supply and air exhaust ducts, in addition to supporting the light producing portion of the fixture. The air ducts are substantially identical in construction, each consisting of two planar, stamped formations, joined together, with the air passageway located therebetween. A separate U-shaped, stamped formation separates the different air ducts to complete the frame. These U-shaped members are provided with lower flanges, corresponding to the lower flanges of the air ducts, and thus appear visually continuous with the air ducts. Cast corner members join the planar formations of the air ducts to the U-shaped members, forming the completed frame. Placement of the fixture in the suspended ceiling support grid is assisted by placement clips attached to the frame, which are received by slots located in the ceiling grid. The clips enable the fixtures to be easily arranged in regular geometric patterns.
