Abstract:

A wireless call management system () for initiating wireless phone calls includes a request module (), an initiation module (), and a wireless phone user interface () and only requires knowledge of the requesting party's phone number. The request module () transmits outgoing call initiation requests to remote users based on local requests from a local user (). The initiation module () requests authorization from the local user () based on incoming call initiation requests. The incoming call initiation requests include phone numbers corresponding to the remote users (). The wireless phone user interface () generates the outgoing call initiation requests based on the local requests for initiation of phone calls and transmits authorization requests to the local user () based on the incoming call initiation requests.

Abstract:

In one aspect, a vehicle monitoring apparatus includes an interface configured to connect to a diagnostic port of a vehicle, a processor coupled to the interface and configured to communicate with the diagnostic port and a sensor coupled to the processor and configured to detect a factor indicating the presence of a driver in the vehicle. The sensor causes the apparatus to transition from a first power mode to a second power mode upon detection of the factor. The apparatus draws more power from the vehicle in the second power mode than in the first power mode. The apparatus also includes a housing that includes the processor and the sensor.

Abstract:

A system and method provides a way to sever the data connection between a USB port and a client device, while still allowing the client device to charge. Typical connections between a client device and a USB port involve a USB cable. However, the device described herein is used in series with the client device and USB port. The device automatically detects the allowed charging current from the USB port and presents that information to the client device. During this exchange, no data transfer is allowed between the client device and USB port in either direction. Once the client device is provided, and charging information presented by the device, the client device begins to charge.

Abstract:

A system for authentication an item comprises a software program executing on a server having one or more sets of instructions executable on a processor of the server. A first set of instructions of the one or more sets of instructions is configured to receive a code scanned from the item. A second set of instructions of the one or more sets of instructions is configured to authenticate the code. A third set of instructions of the one or more sets of instructions configured to transmit a message regarding the authentication of the item, wherein the first set of instructions receives the code as scanned form the item as a pass-through with respect to the mobile device whereby the second set of instructions are further configured to directly authenticate the NFC tag on the server and not on the mobile device.
