Abstract:

A curved linear induction motor direct drive is provided. The rotor of the motor drive is mechanically attached to a rotating frame which in turn holds other components. The rotor may comprise two layers, an aluminum ring to provide the principal magnetic interaction with the stator, and a steel ring to provide mechanical strength. Such a rotor ring may be manufactured with a compression fit.

An imaging system () includes a rotating frame (), a second frame (), and a support () that rotatably couples the rotating frame () to the second frame (). One of the rotating frame () or the second frame () is compliantly coupled to the support () and the other of the rotating frame () or the second frame () is rigidly coupled to the support (). An imaging system includes a rotating frame (), a tilt frame (), and a stationary frame (). A frame stiffener () provides structural support for the rotating and tilt frames () along transverse axes. An imaging system () includes a rotating frame () and a second frame () that rotatably supports the rotating frame (). The rotating frame () is coupled to the second frame () through a contactless bearing and controlled by a contactless mechanism. A braking component () selectively applies a brake to the rotating frame ().

Abstract:

An imaging system () includes an annular bearing () with an iso-center (). The annular bearing includes a stationary side () and a rotatable side () with at least one alignment feature (420). The imaging system further includes a rotating gantry () mechanically coupled to the rotatable side. The imaging system further includes an imaging component ( ). The imaging components includes at least one complementary alignment feature () that is complementary to the at least one alignment feature () of the rotatable side. The rotating gantry is between the imaging component and the rotatable side, and the imaging component is aligned with the iso-center through the at least one alignment feature and the at least one complementary alignment feature.
