A patient support system for supporting a patient during surgery comprising support frame, a plurality of patient supports, a moveable carriage mounted to the support frame, the moveable carriage being movable along a first direction and a second direction relative to the support frame, the moveable carriage comprising mount blocks on which the patient supports are mounted, and an actuation mechanism that causes movement of the moveable carriage in the first and second directions, the patient supports being removably attached at one end to the support frame and attached at another end to the movable carriage, wherein the mount blocks are rotatable independent of any movement of the movable carriage in the first and second directions.

Abstract:

An apparatus for shunting blood includes a flow-indication chamber shaped to define an entry port and an exit port, and one or more moveable objects disposed within the flow-indication chamber and configured to move in response to a flowing of the blood from the entry port to the exit port. At least a portion of a wall of the flow-indication chamber is transparent so as to expose the moveable objects to sight. Other embodiments are also described.

In one aspect, an apparatus for supporting the head and neck of a user for airway management is disclosed, which comprises a top surface including at least one head-receiving portion configured and dimensioned for receiving and supporting a user's head, and at least one recess neck opening for supporting a user's neck when the user's head is received in the head-receiving portion. The apparatus further includes at least one chin support protruding above the top surface and configured for facilitating placing the user in a sniff position when the user's head is received in the head-receiving portion. Abstract:

A limb support apparatus and corresponding methods for making same are disclosed. The limb support can comprise a shell for supporting a patient's limb during treatment, examination, and/or recovery. The shell can comprise at least one padding configured to protect the patient's limb. The padding can be secured to the shell using one or more mounting structures included in the padding. The mounting structures are configured such that they are received by corresponding mounting openings and/or features in the shell. An interference fit between the mounting structures and mounting openings/features secures the padding against the shell, thereby preventing the padding from inadvertently moving or sliding on the shell. Embodiments disclosed herein eliminate the need for traditionally used fasteners that are often difficult to clean and sterilize, thereby improving the quality of patient care and facilitating cleaning of patient and/or operating rooms.
