  • International Classification:
    B66D 1/00
    B21D 53/10
  • US Classification:
    254264, 2989814
  • Abstract:
An elevator load bearing assembly () includes a jacket () having different portions comprising different polymer compositions. In a disclosed example, a plurality of tension members () are at least partially surrounded by a first portion () comprising a first polymer composition. A second portion () establishes at least one exterior surface () of the jacket () and comprises a second polymer composition. In one example, a surface-modifying agent is added to alter the composition of at least a portion of the jacket (). In another example, co-extrusion techniques using different polymer compositions establish different portions of the jacket ().
  • Wear And Corrosion Resistant Coating Having A Roughened Surface

  • US Patent:
    20110114908, May 19, 2011
  • Filed:
    Jul 3, 2008
  • Appl. No.:
    12/997283
  • Inventors:
Richard N. Fargo - Plainville CT, US
Kathryn Rauss Sherrick - Bristol CT, US
David Wayne Mckee - Somers CT, US
Jon George Demos - West Hartford CT, US
  • International Classification:
    B66D 3/04
    B05D 3/12
  • US Classification:
    254390, 427277
  • Abstract:
An exemplary method of making a first component for contacting another component includes applying a wear and corrosion resistant material layer onto a surface of the first component. The wear and corrosion resistant material layer is then roughened subsequent to having been applied to the surface. A component comprises an exemplary elevator sheave that includes a metallic body having a sheave surface that is adapted to contact an elevator tension member. A corrosion resistant material layer on the sheave surface has a thickness that is greater than about 5 microns.
