Additionally, the present disclosure provides a method for promoting the growth of a premature infant, comprising administering to the infant a composition comprising i) a premature infant formula fortifier comprising a protein component, a fat component, and a carbohydrate component, wherein about 10 to about 30% of the caloric content of the fortifier is from protein, and ii) a premature infant formula.
