An automobile interior component including a support layer formed of a foam material and being generally covered by a cover layer, and a film layer generally disposed between the support and cover layers to prevent a selected portion of the foam material from directly contacting the cover layer during manufacture of the interior component, and/or allow placement of the cover layer on a selected portion of the support layer upon application of a vacuum within the film layer. The support, film and/or cover layers may be formed of biodegradable and/or renewable materials. The invention also provides a method of manufacturing the aforementioned automobile interior component.

Abstract:

A method of modifying or repairing a fluid conduit assembly includes scanning a sealing feature of a fluid conduit, the sealing feature including an abnormality, creating a 3D model of a sealing member configured to provide a fluid seal with the sealing feature, and utilizing the 3D model to form the sealing member via additive manufacturing. The method may include modifying the sealing feature of the fluid conduit to reduce or remove the abnormality and provide the sealing feature with modified dimensions. Scanning the sealing feature may include determining the modified dimensions of the sealing feature.

Abstract:

A net-shaped composite plenum housing body for a differential assembly having a pump is disclosed. The plenum housing body can include a low pressure inlet and a high pressure outlet configured to receive a control valve. The plenum housing body can also define a fluid inlet channel in fluid communication with the low pressure inlet via a first internal port and can be configured to be in fluid communication with an inlet side of the pump when the plenum housing body is assembled onto the differential assembly. The plenum housing body can also define a fluid outlet channel in fluid communication with the high pressure outlet via a second internal port and can be configured to be in fluid communication with an outlet side of the pump when the plenum housing body is assembled onto the differential assembly. The plenum housing body can also be formed as a net-shape fiber reinforced plastic material including chopped fibers, for example, chopped fiberglass fibers, and an epoxy resin.
