Abstract:

A natural language-based interface data presentation system interfaces, for example, information visualization system interfaces, is realized by employing so-called open-ended natural language inquiries to the interface that translates them into database queries and a set of information to be provided to a user. More specifically, a natural language inquiry is translated to database queries by determining if any complete database queries can be formulated based on the natural language inquiry and, if so, specifying which complete database queries are to be made. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, knowledge of the information visualization presentation is advantageously employed in the interface to guide a user in response to the users natural language inquiries. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, knowledge of the database and knowledge of the information visualization presentation are advantageously employed in the interface to guide a user in response to the users natural language inquiries. In accordance with still another aspect of the invention, knowledge of the database, knowledge of the information visualization presentation and context information about the query dialogue are advantageously employed in the interface to guide a user in response to the users natural language inquiries.

Abstract:

Opposing jaws of a retractor are pivoted together and extend oppositely from handles manually swingable to move the jaws relatively toward and away from each other. Generally rectangular blades extend downward from the swinging ends of the jaws and have planar leading bottom portions continguously engageable for fitting between closely adjacent bone such as metatarsals. The trailing portions of the blades are flared outward and rearward from the planar contiguously engageable portions for wedging the adjacent bones apart and have concave depressions for receiving the bones. With the bones received in the concave depressions, the jaws are swung apart to spread the bones and maintain them in spread-apart condition for convenient access to the facing surfaces of the bones, such as to excise a neuroma.

Abstract:

This invention is a process for producing stable polymer emulsions and latexes with an average particle size of less than one micron. The polymers are block copolymers of conjugated dienes and vinyl aromatic hydrocarbons which may or may not contain polar functionality. The process comprises making a polymer cement of the polymer and a blend of a solvent for the polymer, emulsifying the polymer cement by combining adding it with an aqueous phase containing an emulsifier which is a nonionic surfactant having a number average molecular weight of less than 1600 and an HLB of 9. 5 to 16 and a stabilizer which is a nonionic surfactant having a molecular weight greater than 1600.

Abstract:

An improved method of COcapture is described. Typically, COis absorbed by an aqueous solution of amines at a first temperature to form a CO-amine reaction product, and desorbed at a second higher temperature. The improvement described herein adds a catalyst to the CO-amine reaction product in an amount such that the COdesorption occurs at a lower temperature than the second higher temperature.
