Abstract:

In one embodiment this invention provides a liquid nutrient formulation which is an aqueous suspension with a high content of nutrient ingredients, and optional ingredients such as medicaments. A primary ingredient of an invention formulation is one or more C. sub. 14 -C. sub. 22 fatty acid alkali metal or ammonium salts suitable as a high energy supplement for ruminant feedstock.

A process for preparing a fatty acid calcium salt ruminant feed supplement product which contains an incorporated methionine hydroxy analog calcium salt additive. The dietary product can function as a rumen bypass feed supplement, and permit a beneficial increase in the nutrient fat content of the feed.

Abstract:

In one embodiment this invention provides a process for preparing a feed supplement product which contains C. sub. 14 -C. sub. 22 fatty acid alkaline earth metal salt and a propionate glucogenous ingredient as essential constituents. The feed product can function as a rumen bypass composition, and permit the beneficial increase of the nutrient fat content of the ruminant feed ration, and facilitate metabolic glucose formation by gluconeogenesis during the digestive cycle.

Abstract:

This invention provides an improved process for the production of a fatty acid alkaline earth metal salt product which have little or no content or glyceride ingredient. An essential feature of the process is the pre-blending of glyceride-containing fatty acid feedstock and basic alkaline earth metal compound, before mixing with water and heating the mixture to initiate salt-forming and glyceride-hydrolyzing reactions. The fatty acid alkaline earth metal salt product can be recovered in the form of tackless free-flowing dust-free granules.
