An extruded seal member having a corrugated axial surface exhibiting alternating peaks and valleys extending longitudinally along the axial surface of the seal member; a method for manufacturing the seal member which comprises extruding a tubular structure having a corrugated axial surface, crosslinking the extrude tubular structure, cutting the tubular structure to provide a plurality of uniform seal members and recovering the seal members; and a method of using such multilayer seal members, are described.

Abstract:

An internal combustion engine has an engine shut-down system that automatically interrupts engine operation when vehicle operation indicates that no torque is required from the engine. An air conditioner compressor operates to cool a passenger compartment of the vehicle and is actuated in a first phase time, and is not actuated in a second phase time. An override system compares the time the compressor is in the enabled first phase time to the time the compressor is in the disabled second phase time. The override system disables the engine shut-down system unless it is determined that a ratio of the disabled second phase time to the enabled first phase time has a low rate of change, that the ratio is greater than a predetermined value, and that the time the compressor is in the disabled second phase is greater than a predetermined value.

Abstract:

A temperature control apparatus for an interior of a motor vehicle having a temperature control loop circulating a heat-exchange fluid to a drivetrain component. A thermoelectric heat-pump (Peltier device) is disposed in the vehicle to heat or cool the desired area, and a fluid comfort control loop exchanges heat with the thermoelectric heat-pump and with the drivetrain temperature control loop, increasing the net amount of heating or cooling that can be delivered to the desired location by the thermoelectric heat-pump. The comfort control loop may branch from the drivetrain loop and carry a portion of the heat-exchange fluid carried in the drivetrain loop. Alternatively, the comfort control loop may carry a second heat-exchange fluid that remains separate from the heat-exchange fluid of the drivetrain loop and exchanges heat therewith in a heat exchanger.

The control system and method correlate a climate thermal load value with the temperature of the coolant in a climate control cooling circuit. The example method may also include sending, based on a determination that that the third temperature is at or above the first threshold temperature, a third signal to the switch to activate a data output corresponding to the first computing element.
