Abstract:
A meter construction such as a parking meter wherein time is purchased upon insertion of coins into the meter. A time indicator means is movable over a dial face for displaying the amount of time purchased. Cam follower means are connected to the indicator means so that the indicator means is held in displaying position after purchase of time when the follower is held in engagement with a cam connected to the clock mechanism. Once time has been purchased, and the follower is not manually held in engagement with the cam, the time indicator disappears from view. Manually operated means are provided for moving the indicator and associated cam follower so that if the previous purchaser or a new purchaser arrives at the meter, it will be possible for either one to determine the amount of previously purchased time remaining on the meter. This arrangement leads to more efficient use of meters from a revenue collection standpoint, users are always able to get an accurate time reading, and traffic congestion, energy consumption, and air pollution problems are better controlled.

Abstract:
A conveyor system comprising a lane conveyor for moving articles in separate lanes with random spacing between the articles, an endless conveyor having article receiving carriers thereon each arranged to receive one or more articles from a lane of said lane conveyor, a second lane conveyor having lanes thereon preferably greater or less in number than the number of lanes in the first lane conveyor, and structure for simultaneously discharging a number of the carriers so as to distribute the articles substantially equally among the lanes of the second lane conveyor. Provision is made to prevent repetition of failure to load a lane in such instances where the number of lanes in the first lane conveyor is equal to the number of lanes in the second lane conveyor.

Abstract:
A reliable pulse source circuit utilizing two independent but synchronized pulse generators is disclosed. The pulse source circuit maintains output pulses even though one pulse generator fails regardless of the failure mode, i. e. , whether the output of the failed generator is stuck high or stuck low. A toggle flip-flop responsive to the presence and absence of pulses from the two generators and its own state outputs controls gating circuitry to generate a sequence of output pulses wherein alternate output pulses occur in response to pulses of one generator and the remaining output pulses occur in response to pulses of the other generator, and if either generator fails, all output pulses occur in response to the pulses of the other generator.
