The present invention relates to a method for connecting an integrated circuit chip to a circuit substrate. The method includes the step of pre-applying adhesive directly to a bumped side of an integrated circuit chip. The method also includes the steps of removing portions of the adhesive from the tips of the solder bumps to expose a contact surface, and pressing the bumped side of the integrated circuit chip, which has previously been coated with adhesive, against the circuit substrate such that the bumps provide an electrical connection between the integrated circuit chip and the circuit substrate. The adhesive is removed from the tips of the solder bumps using a solvent assisted wiping action. The pre-applied adhesive on the chip forms a bond between the integrated circuit chip and the circuit substrate.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for performing fraud detection. As an example, a system and method can be configured to contain a raw data repository for storing raw data related to financial transactions. A data store contains rules to indicate how many generations or to indicate a time period within which data items are to be stored in the raw data repository. Data items stored in the raw data repository are then accessed by a predictive model in order to perform fraud detection.

Abstract:
The present invention is an ultra-thin circuit package with a thinned electronic device having a thickness of less than about 100. mu. m; a flexible circuit substrate; and an adhesive layer with a thickness of less than about 25. mu. m between the electronic device and the circuit substrate. The circuit package is less than about 275. mu. m thick. In another embodiment, the circuit packages may be stacked on one another and laminated together to create an extremely high-density three-dimensional electronic circuit package.
Electrolyte For Electrochemical Cells Having Cathodes Containing Silver Vanadium Oxide

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
An electrochemical cell containing a cathode comprising silver vanadium oxide and an anode comprising lithium is disclosed that includes an improved electrolyte composition having the solvents propylene carbonate and 1,2-dimethoxyethane, and an additional third solvent that reduces the solubility of the composition of the silver vanadium cathode material. Preferably, the third solvent is a dialkyl carbonate such as dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate or ethylmethyl carbonate. The improved electrolyte composition reduces the build up of resistance in the cell during cell discharge, and may affect the cell's performance in implantable cardiac defibrillator applications. The cell of the present invention may include a hybrid cathode containing a mixture of silver vanadium oxide and carbon monofluoride (CF. sub. x).

Features are described for efficiently and accurately identifying a user of an electronic device with limited user interaction. The features include receiving a mobile device identifier from the mobile device. The features include transmitting the mobile device identifier to a service provider associated with the mobile device. The features include receiving information identifying the user from the service provider. The features include identifying a set of candidates associated with at least a portion of the information. The features include generating a metric for the candidates included in the set of candidates. An individual metric indicates a degree of relatedness between a value for the user for the at least one data field and a value for a candidate for the at least one data field. The features include identifying the user as a specific candidate included in the set of candidates based on the metric corresponding to a threshold.

Robotic lightning bugs take flight | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology
for a tiny, power-constrained robot, we are forced to think about new modes of communication. This is a major step toward flying these robots in outdoor environments where we dont have a well-tuned, state-of-the-art motion tracking system, says Kevin Chen, who is the D. Reid Weedon, Jr. Assistante very energetically costly, but in a sense, we get that electroluminescence for free because we just use the electric field at the frequency we need for flying. We dont need new actuation, new wires, or anything. It only takes about 3 percent more energy to shine out light, Kevin Chen says.We are very proud of how good the tracking result is, compared to the state-of-the-art. We were using cheap hardware, compared to the tens of thousands of dollars these large motion-tracking systems cost, and the tracking results were very close, Kevin Chen says.in real-time. The team is working to incorporate control signals so the robots could turn their light on and off during flight and communicate more like real fireflies. They are also studying how electroluminescence could even improve some properties of these soft artificial muscles, Kevin Chen says.

Insect-sized robot can go from air to water and back again
Lead author Kevin Chen, apostgraduate fellow at Harvard'sSchool of Engineering and Applied Sciences, was studying the physics of small, wing-flapping organisms when he made an observation that would inspire the microrobot's design.
said it was the first time they had seen this shift affect a company's quarterly results, and that any correlation to other firms would be "modest at best." Kevin Chen, an analyst with Leerink, said in aninterview that "there is a trend in Europe where there is more sharing of these major instruments.
"People don't see much need for safe-haven assets," Kevin Chen, the chief investment officer of New York-based Three Mountain Capital Management, said in a phone interview. "The jobs report is another indication that the economy is doing very well."
