Abstract:
In an electrodynamic apparatus, a method of securing a coil basket of the type that includes a plurality of top coils and a plurality of bottom coils to a bracing assembly that includes a plurality of support braces includes steps of banding the top coil, the bottom coil and the support brace to each other; positioning a number of inflatable bladders, respectively, between the top coils and the bottom coils in the location of the bandings; and simultaneously inflating the bladders to a predetermined pressure that is sufficient to tension the bandings to a predetermined force, whereby forces that are transmitted to the coil basket from such inflation are imparted evenly throughout the coil basket and at the same time.

An improved end winding region support system is also described.

Abstract:
A wedge assembly for use in retaining a conductive winding in the core slot of a dynamoelectric machine including a conformable hose positioned within the core slot and cooperable with the conductive winding. The conformable hose is useful in minimizing movement of the conductive winding during operation of the dynamoelectric machine by filling gaps caused during the assembly process. The conformable hose may be filled with a resinous material under pressure and may be further looped over the end of and attached to the top of the slot wedge for use in retaining optionally used wedge locks.

The studys lead author, Kevin Konrad, a geoscientist at the University of Nevada, explained that underwater volcanic features are often poorly understood. In some cases, such superstructures have formed with one large flood of magma, whereas others are formed over a long period of time and from sev

Scientists Working to Explain "Superstructures" on Ocean Floor
"There are some features in the Pacific basin where [scientists] have only a single sample, and it looks like a very large massive single event," lead author and University of Nevada, Las Vegas geoscientist Kevin Konrad told Live Science. "Sometimes when we sample these features in detail, we realiz
