Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for executing a remote transaction between a merchant and a customer. A designation of a monetary amount for the remote transaction and an identification of the merchant is transmitted from a merchant processing system to a host system controlled by a money-transfer provider. A money-transfer transaction identifier identifying a prepared money-transfer transaction for transfer of the monetary amount is established at the merchant processing system. The money-transfer transaction identifier is provided to the customer. Performance of merchant obligations in accordance with the remote transaction is initiated after notification to the merchant processing system of receipt of a cash payment made by the customer towards the prepared money-transfer transaction.

One method involves payment of money to a recipient traveling to one or more foreign countries by entering into a remote computer money transfer information from a sender. The money transfer information comprises recipient identification information, at least one country where the money is to be received, and a payment amount in an originating currency. The money transfer information is transmitted to a host computer system. When ready to receive payment in the designated country, recipient identification information along with a request to withdraw a portion of a possible payment amount is entered into a payout computer. The recipient identification information and the request to withdraw is transmitted to a host computer system, and the requested withdrawal is provided to the recipient in the local currency.
Systems and methods for accepting payments for goods and services provided by a merchant. In one embodiment, a method for accepting payments from a consumer for a good or service provided by a merchant comprises receiving a transaction request from the merchant, receiving a payment from the consumer, associating the payment with the transaction request, and sending at least a portion of the payment to the merchant. In this manner, the merchant stages the transaction, and the consumer completes the transaction by making the payment. An optional time limit feature also may be used, and the transaction may be staged by the consumer, or others.
