Abstract:

A belt having a region comprising a non-woven material region on a pulley engaging surface. The non-woven region is infused with an elastomeric compound. A predetermined amount of metal salt of carboxylic acid is included in the elastomeric compound during compounding. The metal salts of carboxylic acid significantly reduce or eliminate slip noise.

Abstract:

A hose coupling for fitment to an end of a cable reinforced hose includes a unitary stem having a cable trap groove portion having an outside diameter greater than an inside diameter of a tube of the hose and less than an inside diameter of the hose with the tube skived from the hose. A unitary ferrule defines at least one cable trap rib corresponding to the cable trap groove and having an inside diameter less than the outside diameter of the cable reinforced hose and greater than an outside diameter of the hose with material covering the cable skived from the hose. The groove width is at least the width of the rib plus twice the diameter of cable reinforcing the hose. Epoxy may be disposed between the hose tube and the stem for sealing or injected between the ferrule and the stem permeating the cable.

Abstract:

The invention comprises a multi-ribbed belt having a modified coefficient of friction at a belt side/pulley interface. The modified coefficient of friction causes the belt to operate more quietly. The modified coefficient of friction is the result of graphite and carbon black added to the elastomer. Graphite is added in the amount of approximately 40 to 100 parts by weight of graphite for each 100 parts by weight of polymer. Carbon black is added in the amount of approximately 20 to 100 parts for each 100 parts elastomer.

Abstract:

A multi-layer flexible hose with at least one vulcanized elastomer layer and an outermost cover layer of a thermoplastic polyurethane strip that is wrapped and thermally fused to form a continuous layer. The wrapping may be helical or longitudinal. The polyurethane includes a high hardness, a softening point at or below the vulcanization temperature, and an intumescent flame retarding additive stable at the vulcanization temperature. The polyurethane cover adheres to the elastomer layer and contributes to the flame resistance required by API 16D or of Lloyd's Register Fire Tests for Flexible Hoses on Offshore Installations OD/1000/499 rev. 1.
