The only thing more impressive than Laura's voice is her versatility as a singer. Laura can adapt her voice as needed to perform a jazz standard, a Whitney Houston hit, a Broadway classic, or an aria as a soloist with a symphony orchestra. Laura's talents have received wide recognition. As a college freshman, she was selected from over 6,000 applicants by the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts to attend their youngArts Week as their only jazz vocalist. She was one of only six artists in the U.S. to win recognition that year in two fields (in her case, Jazz Vocals and Classical Voice) - including a cash scholarship. Later that year, Laura was chosen as one of three national finalists in vocal jazz for the Donna Reed Performing Arts Festival in Denison, Iowa, where she became the first recipient of the Kathleen Freeman Spirit Award. During the week, Laura had the opportunity to work with the highly acclaimed vocal teacher Seth Riggs, where he said of her, "Laura is a natural, just like Barbra Streisand." As a college sophomore, Laura was selected to perform as a soloist with the Utah Symphony, singing Glitter and Be Gay from Leonard Bernstein's Candide to rave reviews. Two years later, Ned Lott, Senior Manager of Disney Character Voices Inc., requested a demo after working one-on-one with Laura in a voice-over workshop. He praised her ability to match the singing voice of any Disney princess and called it "one of the best demos ever received" by the Walt Disney Company.
