A method of mitigating refrigerant leaks within a refrigeration system that includes: detecting a leak of a refrigerant from a refrigeration system; closing a first valve to inhibit a fluid flow of the refrigerant between an evaporator and a condenser fluidly connected to the evaporator; and operating a compressor to direct another fluid flow of the refrigerant from the evaporator to the compressor.

Abstract:

A refrigerated container () that includes a container (), an auxiliary lock (), and a ventilation system. The container () defines an interior space () and has a door () to selectively permit access to the interior space (). The auxiliary lock () is arranged to selectively inhibit the door () from moving from the closed position towards the open position. The ventilation system includes a leak sensor () and a controller (). The leak sensor () is arranged to provide a signal indicative of a concentration of a refrigerant within the interior space () of the container (). The controller () is arranged to receive the signal and is programmed to command the auxiliary lock () to move towards the lock position, responsive to the signal being indicative of the concentration of the refrigerant within the interior space () being greater than a threshold.
