Abstract:

A manually operated floor grooving tool is provided which has opposing front and rear ends with a seam-following roller at its front end and a groove-following roller at its rear end. The tool also employs a pair of grooving blades, one at the front end and one at the rear end. The front grooving blade is inclined upwardly and rearwardly with its cutting tip located just behind the forward axis of rotation of the seam-following guide. The rear-end grooving blade, on the other hand, projects rearwardly from the rear end of the tool and is inclined upwardly and forwardly and behind the groove-following roller. Since the rear-end grooving blade projects beyond the end of the tool in which it is secured, it can complete the formation of the groove all the way up to a vertical abutment. The groove is thereafter filled with sealant in a conventional manner.

Abstract:

A portable, handheld seam welding gun for filling in seams between sheets of linoleum flooring is provided with a unique heat nozzle. The heat nozzle of the invention couples the heating barrel of a conventional floor seam welding gun to a conventional hollow welding tip by receiving the heating air inlet tube of the tip within the confines of a downstream socket formed in the body of the heat nozzle. A larger, upstream socket formed in the body of the heat nozzle fits onto the heating barrel of the handheld, portable welding gun. A plurality of preheating jets are formed on the underside of the body of the heat nozzle to preheat the region of the channel immediately to the rear of the welding tip just before molten sealant flows into that portion of the channel.

Abstract:

A heat and sealant delivery nozzle is constructed for sealing seams between adjacent sheets of flooring. The nozzle of the invention is formed from separate, mating sealant feeding and hot air conducting members that fit to and are secured together. The two part construction of the nozzle produces first and second enclosed plenum chambers therebetween with a series of ducts and passages that preheat both the groove in the flooring that is to receive molten sealant, and the sealant itself. Furthermore, although the pattern of ducts, passages, and cavities within the finished nozzle is quite intricate, the ducts, passageways, and ports are formed without great difficulty due to the two part construction of the nozzle. Moreover, the nozzle is constructed so that the hot air does not mix with the sealant within an internal melting chamber, but rather makes contact with the molten sealant only when the sealant leaves the nozzle.

Abstract:

A seam sealing applicator for dispensing chemical sealant into seams between adjacent sheets of flooring is comprised of a sealant reservoir mounted atop an improved seam sealer applicator tip. The applicator tip of the invention has an elongated, hollow, rigid plastic body with a pair of laterally projecting wings or flanges between its proximal end which receives the sealant reservoir and its opposite, distal sealant dispensing end. The distal end of the plastic body terminates in a flat face, preferably oriented at an angle of about seventy degrees relative to the alignment of the linear sealant delivery duct formed within the body. A thin, hollow, narrow metal insert is set into the distal end of the body. A keel or fin portion of the metal insert protrudes beyond the flat face and projects into a seam between adjacent sheets of flooring. The fin portion of the metal insert defines a thin, narrow, dispensing slit through which sealant may be dispensed deep into the seam between sheets of adjacent flooring.

Abstract:

A garment printing machine is provided with a transportable platen that can be utilized to significantly decrease the delay in printing expended in loading and unloading a garment for printing in either a digitized garment printing machine or a screen garment printing machine. The platen is provided with structure that holds a print receiving area of a garment firmly in position atop a print panel support plate that forms a part of the platen. Furthermore, the invention includes a platen support structure that cooperates with the conventional couplings on existing conventional garment printing machines. A plurality of transportable platens constructed according to the invention are utilized interchangeably so that while one garment loaded on one of the platens is being printed upon in the printing machine, the prior garment just printed upon is unloaded and the next garment to be printed is loaded onto another identical platen. This totally avoids any delay in printing due to loading and unloading of garments on the platens.
