Abstract:

A system and method for dynamically altering a Virtual Memory Manager (VMM) Sequential-Access Read Ahead settings based upon current system memory conditions is provided. Normal VMM operations are performed using the Sequential-Access Read Ahead values set by the user. When low memory is detected, the system either turns off Sequential-Access Read Ahead operations or decreases the maximum page ahead (maxpgahead) value based upon whether the amount of free space is simply low or has reached a critically low level. The altered VMM Sequential-Access Read Ahead state remains in effect until enough free space is available so that normal VMM Sequential-Access Read Ahead operations can be performed (at which point the altered Sequential-Access Read Ahead values are reset to their original levels).

Abstract:

Illustrative embodiments provide a computer implemented method, a data processing system and a computer program product for transforming character data input between a first writing system and a second writing system. The computer implemented method comprises receiving character data input of a first writing system and ensuring the character data input contains normalized characters. A computer identifies a unified code set covering all characters used in the file system. Abstract:

This Application sets forth techniques for provisioning and activating an electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) as a primary SIM for a mobile wireless device that includes a limited functionality physical SIM (pSIM) associated with a particular mobile network operator (MNO) and installed in the mobile wireless device at a time of manufacture. An eSIM associated with the particular MNO is reserved during a sales order process and later activated during device activation after receipt by a user using a secure over-the-air (OTA) cellular connection enabled by the limited functionality pSIM, when a non-cellular connection or other Internet accessible connection is available. Dual SIM device configuration processes can be suppressed during activation of the eSIM. After successful attachment of the mobile wireless device to a cellular wireless network of the particular MNO using credentials of the eSIM, the limited functionality pSIM is disabled.
