Abstract:
A method of making below 250-nm UV light transmitting optical fluoride lithography crystals includes applying heat along a shortest path of conduction of a selected optical fluoride crystal, heating the optical fluoride crystal to an annealing temperature, holding the temperature of the optical fluoride crystal at the annealing temperature, and gradually cooling the optical fluoride crystal to provide a low-birefringence optical fluoride crystal for transmitting below 250-nm UV light.
Method For Annealing Group Iia Metal Fluoride Crystals
The invention is directed to a method for processing and annealing metal fluoride single crystals. Among other steps, the method includes of removing the as-grown surfaces of the crystals after they emerge from the growth furnace, processing the surfaces in such way that all the crystal surfaces have the same thermal properties, and then placing the crystals in a secondary annealing furnace to further anneal the crystals to release the residual stresses resulting from the primary annealing process. The invention is suitable for metal fluoride crystals of general formula MF, where M is calcium, magnesium, barium and strontium, and mixtures thereof.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, apparatus and products relate to display glass from curved glass ribbons, to improve shape stability in glass ribbons, to creation of reduced stress glass ribbons, and to creation of improved shape stability and reduced stress of display glass, which may include forming slightly a curved glass ribbon in a fusion draw machine (FDM). One or more embodiments may include an isopipe having a desired curvature; an isopipe having a desired incline; an offset draw device operable to draw the glass ribbon in an inclined ribbon draw direction; one or more air jets or vacuum operable to apply air pressure to a first side of the glass ribbon, thereby creating a pressure differential on the first side; and/or one or more electrostatic force generators operable to apply electrostatic force to a first side of the glass ribbon, thereby generating an electric field differential across the glass ribbon.
