A method for producing a bio-inorganic conjugate is provided comprising supplying a plurality of inorganic particles that are axially anisotropic; and positioning biomolecules intermediate the particles to form a chain-like structure. Also provided is an organized microscopic structure capable of vectorial electron transport within the structure, comprising a plurality of inorganic oxide particles, each particle having at least two ends; a first molecule covalently attached to each end to form a plurality of constructs; and a second molecule attached to the first molecule so as to link the constructs and form an elongated substrate.

Abstract:

An apparatus for selecting a single synchrotron pulse from the millions of pulses provided per second from a synchrotron source includes a rotating spindle located in the path of the synchrotron pulses. The spindle has multiple faces of a highly reflective surface, and having a frequency of rotation f. A shutter is spaced from the spindle by a radius r, and has an open position and a closed position. The pulses from the synchrotron are reflected off the spindle to the shutter such that the speed s of the pulses at the shutter is governed by: s=4. times. pi. times. r. times. f. such that a single pulse is selected for transmission through an open position of the shutter.

Abstract:

In aspects of digital image capture with a polarizer at different rotation angles, a device includes a polarizer that filters light at different polarizations and a first camera captures filtered digital images at different rotation angles of the polarizer. The device also includes a second camera to capture a full light digital image that is unfiltered. The device implements an imaging algorithm to determine a common region in each of the filtered digital images that has a variable brightness in each of the filtered digital images. The imaging algorithm can then determine pixel brightness values of the pixels in the common region of the filtered digital images, select one of the filtered digital images with a lowest pixel brightness value in the common region as an output filtered image, and combine the full light digital image with the output filtered image to generate a final image with modified image brightness.

Abstract:

A method, a system, and a computer program product for applying a white balance correction to an image data captured by a camera sensor based on a current level of ambient color. The method includes capturing, via a camera sensor, image data of a scene. The method further includes contemporaneously measuring, via a light color sensor, an amount of ambient color. The method further includes calculating a determinant value that represents a magnitude of variance of colors in the scene. The method further includes in response to determining the determinant value is less than a determinant threshold: generating a white balance correction based at least in part on the measured amount of ambient color and applying the white balance correction to the image data to generate a corrected image data having colors that more accurately represent colors in the current scene.
