Abstract:

An assay for analysis of a nucleic acid sample is provided. In one embodiment, the assay includes: a) employing an RNA sample to obtain a DNA probe; b) contacting the DNA probe with a substrate containing a surface-immobilized RNA oligonucleotide to produce a surface-immobilized RNA/DNA duplex; and c) detecting RNAseH-dependent cleavage of the surface-immobilized RNA oligonucleotide in the RNA/DNA duplex.

Abstract:

An improved flexible merchandise display rack capable of displaying a plurality of similar sized swatches of materials such as carpet samples. A plurality of individual assemblies are each pivotably mounted on a vertical shaft. Each assembly consists of a pair of spaced-apart disc members separated by posts connected to opposite sides of opposing discs along the periphery thereof. The space between opposing discs is a function of the width of the individual samples that are inserted about one or two or even three of the posts with the end portion of the samples towards the central shaft. A plurality of the assemblies may be stacked one above the other on a single shaft thereby allowing a greater number of samples to be displayed in a given area than has heretofore been possible to achieve. In addition, the individual samples are all supported within each assembly thereby obviating the need for the customer to hold or otherwise support any of the samples. Rotating each of the assemblies provides a complete display of all samples for the customer's consideration.

A system for receiving incoming telephone calls on an incoming telephone line and automatically diverting such incoming calls to an outgoing telephone line. The disclosed call diverting system includes a disconnect circuit which automatically disconnects the incoming-call line in response to predetermined conditions indicating that the diverting call has been completed and the calling party has hung up. The disclosed system also includes a call divert control function which informs the called party on the outgoing line that he is receiving a diverted call, and which enables the called party to control the voice-bridging interconnection between the line and the calling party on the incoming line.

Abstract:

Apparatus and method for detecting the occurrence of a dial pulse signal in a telephone circuit. Transient signals within the frequency range of possible dial pulse signals are detected, and the amplitude of the detected signals are compared with a predetermined amplitude level. A first time period and a second time period are initiated in response to a first detected signal which exceeds a certain initial reference amplitude, with the duration of the first time period being less than the interval between the two consecutive transient pulse signals to be expected of a true dial pulse signal. The duration of the second time period is substantially equal to the period of a true dial pulse signal. A received signal resembling a dial pulse signal is detected during the first period only if the amplitude of such signal exceeds a second reference amplitude which is greater than the initial reference amplitude. A second apparent dial pulse transient signal condition, occurring after the termination of the first time period but before the termination of the second time period, is interpreted as the occurrence of a true dial pulse signal, in response to which a corresponding dial pulse output signal is produced.
