Kansas lawmakers draw closer to a school finance deal
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Gene Suellentrop, who has been on the job less than a week after former chairman Rep. Marc Rhoades resigned over differences with GOP leaders, said changes in provisions for allowing increased local property taxes could be problematic as well.
"There's a lot of heartburn with the things we did," said House Appropriations Committee Chairman Marc Rhoades, a Newton Republican, in passing the bill before the 90-day session closed shortly before dawn.
