Abstract:
A pressure orienting swivel arrangement includes a freely rotatable weight assembly to orient to gravity prior to being urged to a fixed position. In the fixed position, a pin adapter is reactably interengagable with the weight assembly to orient the pin adapter to the weight assembly without reorienting the weight assembly from gravity. A method for orienting a downhole tool is also included.

Abstract:
A downhole backup system includes, a tubular positionable within a downhole structure such that an annular space exists between the tubular and the downhole structure. The downhole backup system also includes, a plurality of wedges that are radially movably positioned within the annular space, and each of two opposing ends of the plurality of wedges are configured to completely cover the annular space at all possible radial positions of the plurality of wedges.

Abstract:
A packer features spaced apart sealing elements with an extrusion barrier between them. When the packer is set the extrusion barrier is protected from debris in the well. The barrier provides full circumferential extrusion protection using one or more rings made of wedge shaped segments that have a keyway at their edges and are assembled in an alternating manner so as to be able to increase or decrease in diameter when mandrel components are moved toward or away from each other. The segments have an opening through which a mandrel projection extends so as to force the segments into the smaller diameter for removal. Travel stops for the segments in the form of machined flats are provided on the relatively movable mandrel components.

Abstract:
A splice carrier has a first end and a second end and a sleeve portion located at the first end. The splice carrier also includes a body portion extending between the first end and the second end and including one or more grooves disposed therein. The one of the grooves includes a receiving area configured to receive a mechanical splice.
Shape Memory Polymer Isolator For Downhole Electronics
Devices and methods for mounting and/or isolating members within housings. In described embodiments, a compressible shape memory polymer is used to provide this isolation. Particular embodiments are described wherein exemplary electronic circuit boards are disposed within carrier housings along with one or more protective spacers formed of shape memory polymer.

Abstract:
A downhole tool, a nozzle assembly for the downhole tool and a nozzle. The nozzle assembly includes an orifice in a housing of the downhole tool. The orifice has a housing groove. A nozzle is insertable into the orifice, the nozzle including a nozzle groove. A release member secures the nozzle to the housing by disposing a first portion of the release member in the housing groove and a second portion of the release member in the nozzle groove. The first portion is removable from the second portion upon applying a force to the nozzle above a release threshold. The nozzle includes a body having an outlet end, a nozzle groove on a surface of the body for receiving a release member to secure the nozzle within a housing, and a seal groove for isolating the nozzle groove from an environment at the outlet end.
