Within moments, the dispatcher, Marilyn Hinson, was jotting down his grocery list: a head of cabbage, two bananas, a can of beets and a can of green beans, tomato juice, three Pepsis, some processed ham and, his absolute favorite, popcorn. He told her he had the money to pay her back.
Blackmon is an 81-year-old cancer patient. He now weighs just 115-pounds. So, when he came home after months of cancer treatment and rehab and found nothing in his refrigerator to eat, he made that desperate call. Fortunately for him, on the other end of the line was Marilyn Hinson.
