Abstract:
An acoustic panel for reducing the transmission of noise therethrough is provided. The acoustic panel may include a sound-absorbing surface with a plurality of convex and concave structures. The convex and concave structures may be organized in a regular array and may be spatially arranged to be alternating with one another. A dishwasher may use such an acoustic panel including a panel of sound absorbing material by placing such a panel inside the door, in or around the walls of the tub of a dishwasher, or the panel can also be used to reduce the transmission of noise with other products. A method of inserting a panel of sound-absorbing material into the door of a dishwasher is also provided. The panel may include protrusions extending from one of its surfaces in order to engage a supporting surface of the product to which it is attached.
Acoustic Base Tray For A Dishwashing Appliance, And Associated Method
An apparatus and associated method for attenuating noise generated by a dishwashing appliance in operation is provided herein. During operation a dishwasher and its components generate thermo-acoustic waves associated with noise. A base tray comprising a major surface and an array of thermo-acoustic nodes are used to manage and control the thermo-acoustic waves. The array of thermo-acoustic nodes can be configured in a plurality of rows and columns with at least two thermo-acoustic nodes being interconnected. The array of thermo-acoustic nodes can be configured to channel the thermo-acoustic waves therebetween so as to control and manage the thermo-acoustic waves, thereby attenuating the noise associated with the thermo-acoustic waves. The base tray can be customizable with various arrangements of different thermo-acoustic nodes, clusters, stabilizers and/or channels.

Abstract:
A fluid inlet for a dishwasher configured to help manage acoustic emissions is provided. The fluid inlet includes a nozzle that defines a plurality of relatively small-diameter orifices and a plurality of relatively large-diameter orifices. The large diameter orifices may define a diverging cross-section. The relatively small-diameter orifices may be interspersed in a plurality of clusters between the relative larger diameter orifices. The fluid inlet may further include an enclosure defining a vertically descending channel from the nozzle toward a bottom of a tub of the dishwasher and one or more dampers within the enclosure such that the water exiting the nozzle cascades down onto and over the dampers and out of the enclosures through one or more outlets of the enclosure to the bottom of the tub.
Embodiments of dishwashers with sound attenuating properties are provided. The dishwashers include one or more laminated structures for attenuating sound. The structure may include a layer of an acoustic tape having a plurality of bi-direction fibers configured to redirect and convert sound generated by the dishwasher into heat such that the sound perceivable outside the dishwasher is reduced. The structure may further include one or more layers of foam for absorbing sound and one or more layers of vinyl for converting sound into heat. Panels of the laminated structure may be positioned in, around, and along the toe plate assembly, the door assembly, the base and tub of the dishwasher, and framing elements of the dishwasher.

Abstract:
Embodiments of a mastic-less dishwasher are provided. The dishwasher may include a mastic-less material coupled to the dishwasher door or walls of recyclable and/or reclaimable tub. The dishwasher is free of a mastic material such that during operation the dishwasher may provide greater energy efficiency than a dishwasher comprising a mastic material. The mastic-less material may be non-expandable and/or a mass dampener material. Further, related methods for assembling a dishwasher are also provided.

A fluid inlet for a dishwasher configured to help manage acoustic emissions is provided. The fluid inlet includes a nozzle that defines a first plurality of orifices and a second plurality of orifices having a larger diameter than the first plurality of orifices. The first or second plurality of orifices may define a diverging cross-section. The first plurality of orifices may be interspersed in a plurality of clusters between the second plurality of orifices.
