Abstract:

A deck post (or brace) having a non-circular cross-section is secured to a roof deck. A lead pipe jack (sleeve) is slid over the post. A waterproofing assembly having a collar and a skirt is provided; the collar has an opening with generally the same non-circular cross-section as that of the post. The collar opening is positioned on the deck post, and the unit is slid down the post until the collar is at the top of the sleeve, the skirt extending down over the sleeve. A clamp is then positioned and tightened around the collar to provide a watertight seal on the deck post. When the post is already installed on a roof deck and the sleeve and the waterproofing assembly cannot be slid into place on the post, a modified retrofit waterproofing assembly and sleeve are used to provide the waterproofing. The modified sleeve is a split lead flashing jack with an open seam on one side. The sleeve is opened up, wrapped around the post and soldered closed.

Abstract:

The present invention is a multi-mode combination alarm and locking apparatus for bicycles, motorcycles and the like. The case of the combination alarm and locking apparatus can be attached to a bicycle or the like by a hollow bracket which can detachably mounted to a tubular section of the bicycle frame. In the preferred embodiment the combination alarm and locking apparatus includes a U-bolt lock. In an alternative embodiment the combination alarm and locking apparatus can be used in conjunction with a U-bolt lock. The combination alarm and locking apparatus also has a cable lock which has an elongated flexible cable with a conductive core and is retained by a retractable spool. The spool is releasibly engaged with a releasible rachet mechanism which controls the retraction of the spool. The combination alarm and locking apparatus further provides a multi-mode alarm protection to the bicycle, including the motion detection, the battery compartment door tampering detection and the cable lock continuity detection, all operable with a single key.

Abstract:

A helmet for use by riders of bicycles, motorcycles or other vehicles. Left and right hearing assemblies are mounted inside of the helmet. Each of the assemblies has an enclosed ear cup positioned to fit snugly over a respective one of the user's ears. Respective hearing conduits extend from the ear cups through the interior of the helmet to respective openings. Thereby while the ear cups block substantial wind noises, the hearing conduits direct desirable sounds, such as emergency sirens, other traffic noises and voices, to the user's ears. User operable actuators for closing and opening the hearing conduits as desired can be provided. Optional ventilation tubes direct cooling and drying air through openings in the ear cups to the user's ears. Gates or shutters supported by the helmet shell allow the user to open and dose the ventilation tubes as desired.
