Abstract:

A portable counter for belted ammunition contained in linked tubes of a flexible ammunition carrier is described which comprises a pair of upright wall members and a top plate holding the wall members in preselected spaced relationship to each other and defining an entrance side and an exit side for the counter, a rotatable paddle wheel disposed between the wall members and defining a passageway between the paddle wheel and top plate from the entrance side to the exit side of the counter, the paddle wheel including a plurality of paddles sized and spaced to engage spaces between adjacent tubes of the ammunition carrier to carry the ammunition carrier through the passageway, and a mechanical counter operatively contacting the tubes of the flexible ammunition carrier for counting the tubes as they are carried through the counter with rotation of the paddle wheel.

Abstract:

A device for extracting ammunition casings from linked tubes of a flexible ammunition carrier is described which in a preferred representative embodiment comprises a generally tubular chute having an upper wall and a lower wall and first and second side walls which are divergent from each other along the length of the chute thereby defining a passageway through the chute extending from an entrance end to an exit end thereof which substantially uniformly increases in width along the length thereof; first and second channels defined along respective first and second side walls of the chute and configured to diverge one from the other in correspondence with the divergence of the first and second side walls and sized to receive respective annular flanges on the casings and the tubes of the ammunition carrier; and a rotatable paddle wheel disposed near the entrance end of the chute and including a plurality of paddles sized and spaced to engage spaces between adjacent tubes of the ammunition carrier which provides means for forcing the ammunition carrier through the chute whereby the respective annular flanges of the casings and tubes are separated along the length of the chute in correspondence with the divergence of the first and second channels and the casings are thereby separated from the tubes near the exit end of the chute.

Abstract:

A method of dynamically presenting temporally ordered image events includes providing a pre-determined presentation rate and a corresponding pre-determined presentation period; using a processor to receive at irregular intervals a plurality of temporally ordered image events at an average image event rate less than the presentation rate; storing the received image events in an ordered list corresponding to the order in which the image events were received; accessing, according to a pre-determined rule, stored image events from the ordered list; sequentially presenting the accessed image events for the presentation period; and interrupting the sequential presentation of the stored image events when a new image event is received and presenting the received new image event for the presentation period and resuming the sequential presentation of the accessed image events.
