Abstract:

Disclosed is a light pipe signaling device for signaling a user. A light pipe has a first end portion that fits into a receptacle. Both light pipe and receptacle are constructed using a transparent material. Light from a light source enters the receptacle and is transmitted to the light pipe. The light travels along a body of the light pipe to a second end portion. The second end portion is adapted to reflect or dissipate the light such that the user is able to see the light from a wide field of view. The light pipe is preferably removable and the receptacle is preferably incorporated into a device that activates the light source in order to alert the user.

Abstract:

A gas/air mixer assembly provides a Venturi metering system that may draw fuel from a zero governor, mix it with air to form a homogenous gas/air mixture for delivery to an internal combustion engine. The gas/air mixer assembly may also accept fuel under pressure from a gas metering valve or fuel injector for delivery to an internal combustion engine. The mixer includes an air horn, the relative position of which in relation to a shaped restriction body governs the air flow into the engine intake manifold. The flange of the air horn is configured to redirect the flow of air without generating significant turbulence, and providing a maximum velocity perpendicular flow to the injection of fuel to be mixed therein. The relative position of the air horn to the shaped restriction body is determined based on the cubic capacity and speed of the engine with which it is used.

Abstract:

A kit and needle assembly for reconstituting a quantity of a lyophilized pharmaceutical. The kit of the invention may include a reconstituting appliance having a non-transparent needle covering portion with a hollow adapted to receive the inserted stoppered end of the injection pen cartridge, which needle covering portion extends around a side-firing cannula to hide the cannula from side view. A shiftable alignment member retained within the needle covering portion at a first axial position, and shiftable to a second axial position when abutted by the injection pen cartridge during its insertion, may be included. The kit includes an injection pen cartridge including a barrel filled with a quantity of a lyophilized drug, a slidable plunger used during pen operation to eject the reconstituted drug, and a stopper penetrable by the cannula during drug reconstituting. The needle assembly of the invention may include a cannula defining an axial passage therethrough in communication with a reservoir of diluent fluid. The distal end of the cannula terminates in a closed piercing tip, and is provided with a side port, in communication with the axial passage, which is configured to direct fluid passing through it in a direction diverging from the axis of the cannula.

A medication dispensing apparatus having a manually operable plunger axially shiftable relative to the apparatus housing. The plunger is pullable relative to the housing in a proximal direction to cock the apparatus, and when the plunger is then manually pushed back toward the housing, a piston within a medicine container of the apparatus is shifted to force medication from a needle assembly at the distal end of the apparatus. Abstract:

A plurality of binding elements, each of a substantially uniform thickness, the fingers being looped over and coupled to the spine such that the inner surface of the fingers is disposed against the inner surface of the spine by an adhesive when assembled. In an embodiment, at least a portion of the outer surface of the binding element is resistant to a more permanent attachment to the adhesive such that the plurality may be stacked together, and successively decoupled or removed for insertion into a stack. The binding elements may include score lines or bends in the fingers to provide a rounded closed loop structure; optional gussets in the bends inhibit straightening of the fingers. The fingers optionally include variations in cross-section along the length to relieve certain stresses to inhibit the looped finger. The binding elements optionally include structure for facilitating interaction with an automating binding process.

Abstract:

A prefilled injection apparatus for multiple dosings of medication. The protective housing element into which is installed the mechanical drive mechanism used to force the medication from the apparatus extends forward to provide a volume in which is directly contained a multi-dose quantity of medicine, and the medicine is sealed between a movable piston and a septum each in fluid tight engagement with the protective housing element. This design advantageously eliminates the need for using a separate cartridge within the apparatus. A method of making a cartridge-free, multi-dose injection apparatus is also disclosed.
