Abstract:

A therapy wrap for treatment of at least a portion of an animate body having improved kink resistance. The therapy wrap may be selectively reinforced for improved kink resistance in only a portion of the wrap. The reinforcement may decrease the kink radius. The wrap may include a kink reducer in all or only a selected kink-prone region. The kink reducer may be selectively configured attachment points or spot welds. The therapy wrap may include a reinforcement layer of one or more discrete reinforcement members. The wrap may be formed by pre-tensioning the material layers while forming the fluid bladder and/or gas pressure bladder. The therapy wrap may be adapted to compensate for conditions that normally cause kinking of the wrap or buckling of the fluidic channels. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing the wrap and methods of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part.

Abstract:

The present invention relates generally to vacuum lids, and in particular, vacuum lids that are compatible with containers to preserve food stored in the container. An embodiment of the invention includes a top surface with an access aperture, a plurality of raised members of varying heights, and a removable raised member that covers a container valve. A vacuum is applied to the container valve, wherein air from the container is removed from the container. The container is then sealed with a membrane, thereby holding a vacuum inside the container.

Abstract:

A fluid chiller system supplying cold fluid to a therapeutic wrap, in which a minimum level of fluid flow is provided through the heat exchange coils to insure that the fluid in the coils does not freeze. A fluid flow meter or pressure sensor connected inline with the inlet port of the chiller unit measures a level of fluid flow. A controller is connected to the flow meter or pressure sensor and a bypass valve, wherein based on a signal from the flow meter or pressure sensor, the controller adjusts the bypass valve to provide a predetermined level of fluid flow into the inlet port of the chiller unit, in order to prevent the heat exchange coils from freezing, if the flow through the wrap is blocked.

Temperature-controlled therapy wrap for treatment of at least a portion of an animate body including a fluid bladder including an inlet, an outlet, and at least one fluidic channel connecting the inlet to the outlet; and a thermal insulating member on the fluid bladder only directly adjacent the inlet and extending along the at least one fluidic channel. The therapy wrap may be adapted to compensate for a temperature delta in the wrap. The therapy wrap may include an insulating layer of one or more insulating members. The insulating layer is dimensioned and configured to have different coefficients of heat transfer. The insulating layer may have varying thicknesses and materials to achieve varying heat transfer rates. Also disclosed is a method of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part.
