Abstract:

An apparatus and method for performing warming therapy is described. In one exemplary embodiment, the apparatus includes a patient support assembly and at least one heating element coupled to the patient support assembly, formed of a plurality of heating cells. In another exemplary embodiment, the heating element is formed of a plurality of separate heating segments which may be Individually controlled. In yet another exemplary embodiment, the heating element is coupled to at least one oxygen sensor and a control system for controlling the power applied to the heating element based on the oxygen level measured by the oxygen sensor. The heating element may be made of materials which are X-ray transparent, so that a patient disposed on a heated mattress will not need to be moved from the mattress to have effective X-ray diagnostics performed.

A system for tracking one or more subjects for collecting airborne contaminants. The system includes one or more subjects configured to collect air contaminants. Each of the one or more subjects includes an identification tag encoded with identification information identifying the each subject. The system further includes an identification reader configured to decode the identification information encoded within the identification tag of a scanned one of the one or more identification tags. A computer receives and stores the decoded identification information in a record in a database. The computer may also receive and stored an identification code for a user who scanned the scanned identification tag in the record in the database. Additional records in the database are created each time the identification tag of one of the one or more subjects is scanned. The one or more subjects are thereby tracked as they collect airborne contaminants and are incubated.

Abstract:

An air sampling device and method of sampling air. The device has a housing body and a retaining assembly for a sampling device. A plenum has a top end coupled to the housing body about an opening such that the plenum is in flow communication with the opening and receives air flow generally from the top end to the bottom end generally along the longitudinal length thereof. A flow connection is coupled to the bottom end of the plenum. A mass flow meter has an input coupled to the flow connection and is in flow communication with the plenum via the flow connection. A blower is configured to draw air past the sampling device, through the opening, and through the plenum, such that a measuring portion of the air flows through the flow connection and through the mass flow meter, which measured the flow rate of the measuring portion.

Abstract:

An air sampling device samples air in a controlled environment. The device includes a housing body having a top and a side. An opening is located at the top of the housing body. A retaining assembly retains a sampling device and atrium. The retaining assembly is located at the top of the housing body about the opening. A plenum has a top end and a bottom end, with the top end coupled to the top of the housing body about the opening so that the plenum is in flow communication with the opening. A mass flow meter has an input and an output, with the input coupled to the bottom end of the plenum and in flow communication with the bottom end of the plenum. A blower is located inside the plenum and is configured to draw air past the sampling device, through the opening, through the plenum, and through the mass flow meter. The mass flow meter detects a flow rate of air through the mass flow meter. And a controller receives the detected flow rate from the mass flow meter and controls a speed of the blower in response to the detected flow rate. The controller increases the speed of the blower if the detected flow rate is lower than a desired flow rate, and decreases the speed of the blower if the detected flow rate is higher than a desired flow rate.
