Abstract:

A device and method for dispensing flowable materials from a plurality of cartridge assemblies. Under the preferred embodiment, the device comprises a receptacle for carrying a plurality of cartridge assemblies therein. The cartridge assemblies each have a longitudinal axis and include a dispensing nozzle and an elongated tubular wall portion for containing a flowable material therein for dispensing. The wall portion is formed of a material that can be cut by a cutting surface. A drive mechanism is provided for moving an elongate drive rod in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. A web assembly is secured to the drive rod, the web assembly including a plurality of ejectors extending therefrom. Each ejector is arranged for reciprocal movement along the longitudinal axis within one of the cartridge assemblies between a forward ejecting direction to dispense the flowable material it contains and a return direction. There is disposed on the web assembly at least one cutting surface for slicing the tubular side wall of the cartridge assembly as the ejector moves in the forward ejecting direction.

Abstract:

A device for dispensing flowable materials to low locations without the user being required to bend over or kneel down during dispensing provides relief from back strain or other injuries. The device includes a cylinder having a piston mounted therein which reciprocates between forward ejecting and return directions. A driven rod, connected to the piston, extends through a front wall of the cylinder. Upon actuation, a trigger mechanism supplies a pressure medium within the cylinder for displacing the piston in the forward ejecting direction to dispense flowable material from the dispensing device. The trigger mechanism is oriented to enable the user to hold the dispensing device like a suitcase and is spaced a sufficient distance from where the flowable material is dispensed to enable a user to remain standing erect while dispensing to low areas such as where a floor and wall meet.

Abstract:

A nozzle assembly for use with a device for dispensing a flowable material, such as caulking material, is disclosed. The nozzle assembly includes a conduit having an inlet end adapted for connecting to the dispensing device, an outlet end, and a longitudinally extending passage therethrough. A head assembly is arranged to be rotatably mounted to the conduit outlet end. A nozzle is arranged to be affixed within the head assembly, the nozzle comprising a larger diameter inlet opening, a smaller diameter outlet opening, and a tapered wall comprising a notched portion which, together with the outlet opening forms a dispensing opening. The nozzle is arranged to rotate in response to rotation of the head assembly to any one of a plurality of positions for directing a bead of flowable material onto a surface.

In one embodiment, a dispensing device includes a receptacle for containing and dispensing the flowable material, such as caulk. The dispensing device also includes a drive member which moves a piston within the receptacle for dispensing the flowable material from the device. A handle is arranged to be gripped by an operator and includes a clamp member disposed over the receptacle which is arranged to move from an open position whereby the handle is moveable to any desired position along the receptacle, to a closed position for engaging the handle to the receptacle. A user input is provided on the moveable handle and adapted to be depressed by a user for operation of the device.

Abstract:

A dispenser for viscous material packaged in a collapsible sleeve includes a chamber for receiving the packaged material and a piston rod and piston assembly for compressing the collapsible sleeve to dispense the viscous material through a dispensing orifice in a closure removably retained on the forward end of the chamber. The piston assembly includes a movement-limiting member having a distal surface that extends forward of a piston for limiting movement of the piston rod and piston by engaging the peripheral surface of the closure. The movement-limiting member also has an outer peripheral surface that is positioned inwardly of an inner surface of the chamber to provide an annular compartment for receiving portions of the collapsible sleeve therein when the viscous material in the sleeve has been dispensed.

Abstract:

Lead Tracking of Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Devices improve upon the process of implantation of ICD-CRT devices, placing their leads, and improving the information fed back to the device and/or clinician. Tracking of the placement of the leads during implantation is accomplished along with monitoring the leads once implanted. Benefits include reducing the risk and complication rate, simplifying implantation procedure, and enabling the extraction of vital data not previously available. Leads are tracked to at least minimize the need to use fluoroscopy. Three dimensional tracking () is employed to facilitate obtaining of data that allows the surgeon to better visualize lead insertion and placement. Placement of the leads during a procedure requires use of an external tracking component along with means and method for tracking the implantable leads. Transmitting antennas () are provided, equal in number to the number of degrees of freedom of tracking required. A link () between the sensor () and the computation unit () can be wired or wireless. Once leads are implanted, heart wall motion must be monitored via the tracking of the leads within a clinical or home environment. Such tracking of the leads may be accomplished in real time.

Abstract:

A nozzle is disclosed for dispensing viscous material comprising a plurality of dispensing tubes having dispensing tips and a single input cavity adapted to accept the viscous material. In an embodiment, at least one of the dispensing tips is manufactured closed and can be opened at the user's discretion. In a further embodiment, the nozzle has a flange at the input tube end, and the flange holds the nozzle between a dispensing tool end-stop and a material container, such as the tip of a tube of adhesive or sealant. In an embodiment, the dispensing tubes are at an angle to the centerline of the material dispenser.In a further embodiment, the nozzle screws into to a threaded socket on a dispensing tool by a thread on the outside of the input tube.
