Abstract:

A method and system for a refueling drogue coupling system are provided. The system includes a coupling latch assembly coupled to the coupling outlet wherein the coupling latch assembly includes a latch member configured to matingly engage a complementary latch-receiving member of a refueling probe. The coupling latch assembly further includes a latch member actuator operatively coupled to the latch member to permit the latch member to move from a first locked position to a second unlocked position. A probe position sensor is configured to detect a position of the refueling probe. A hose tension sensor is configured to measure a tension in a hose coupled to the coupling inlet. A drogue control system is positioned on the refueling drogue coupling system and communicatively coupled to the latch member actuator, the probe position sensor, and the hose tension sensor.

Abstract:

An identification system comprises removable fittings for the pressure lines or hoses. The identification system in particular comprises sets of matched identification fittings which are joinable together, but separable for individual mounting to respective ones of a pressure line fitting and the port to which the pressure fitting is connected. The identification fittings have matched surface indicia, which has a unique identifier that is common to both of the matched identification fittings provided as a set. For example, one set of identification fittings may each be marked with a visible indicator such as a common letter such as a capital A.

Abstract:

A self-contained fire protection system for an engine compartment and the like includes a gas cylinder or bottle having an outlet and a manifold secured to the cylinder. The manifold defines a through passage. Secured to the manifold is a thermally responsive actuator. The actuator includes a cap which is released in a fire condition permitting the contents of the cylinder to be discharged. A pressure switch having a pressure sensing port is mounted on the manifold. A switch activation accelerator includes an elongated stand pipe or tube extending from the pressure sensing port. The tube moves the effective position of the sensing port to an ambient pressure location.

Abstract:

An attenuated cable is formed with an in-line attenuator conducted between two cable lengths wherein the cable lengths are rigidly joined together by a rigid hollow housing which encloses the attenuator therein. The attenuator circuit is housed within the housing, and is electrically connected to the cable lengths without the use of mechanical connections therebetween. The free ends of the cable lengths farthest from the housing are provided with standard connectors for connecting the cable to additional electrical devices such as microphones, mixers or amplifiers. Since the housing and attenuator circuit are relatively small and light relative to the larger cable lengths, the attenuated cable has substantially the same weight and flexibility as a continuous length of cable.

Abstract:

A mounting assembly for fire extinguishers which includes a bracket shaped to define a substantially V-shaped trough. A flexible strap is adapted to be wrapped tautly about the fire extinguisher and thereby hold it tightly in the bracket's trough. The strap includes a bail which cooperates with a pivotally mounted latch member for locking the strap against the extinguisher. The strap also includes an aperture which is adapted to be interlockingly attached to a hook structure provided on the bracket. This arrangement permits the strap to be quickly and easily removed from or attached to the bracket without the use of tools. Due to the bracket's substantially two-point engagement with the extinguisher, and the easy release and attachment of the flexible strap, the mounting assembly may be easily adapted to hold fire extinguishers of various sizes by the easily performed exchange of the flexible strap. Furthermore, a pair of tracks are provided to receive and support the bail, when locked to the latch member, to resist deformation and premature failure of the bail. Also, a bottom support having an abutment flange for supporting the bottom of the extinguisher is designed to be mounted wihtin a channel provided in the bottom bracket of the mounting assembly.
