Abstract:

Property modifiers stored on a computer-readable medium for formatting information associated with a computer file, such as an electronic document. Each property modifier includes a size field having information indicating the size of its property modifier argument and an index field having an index into a property information array. A program module can traverse a group of property modifiers by utilizing the information in the size field of the current property modifier to determine the location of the next property modifier. Formatting is applied to information of the computer file by using the index of each property modifier to access formatting information maintained in the property information array. Each property modifier can store encoded information corresponding to the type of object to receive formatting, the size of the property modifiers argument, and an index into the property information array associated with an executable computer program. Rather than pre-allocate space in the executable portion of a program module, the property modifier itself contains information embedded therein that indicates the size of the parameter of the property modifier.

Abstract:

An apparatus and method for testing a spindle are provided. The apparatus includes a rotational load device and a linear load device. The rotational load device is connected to the spindle via a shaft and configured to rotationally load the spindle. The linear load device is configured to apply a predetermined linear load on the shaft, so that the linear load is at least partially transmitted to the spindle. The spindle can be subjected to various linear and rotational loads to determine the effectiveness of the spindle, and the performance of the spindle can be measured.

Abstract:

A document store delivers a document requested therefrom from a folder having rights information associated therewith. In response to a request for a copy of the document, rights data for the copy of the document is defined based on the rights information of the folder, and the copy of the document and the defined rights data thereof are published to result in a package with the rights data and the copy of the document encrypted according to a content key (KD) to result in (KD(copy)). The formed package is then delivered to the requester. The rights data can be discovered upon the requester attempting to render the package and such discovery triggers a request for a corresponding license based on such rights data. The license includes (KD) therein in a form available to the requester to decrypt (KD(copy)) if the requester satisfies the rights data.

Abstract:

A rights-managed document has protected content from an author thereof, whereby a recipient of the document can render the protected content with a corresponding license if the recipient satisfies terms set forth in the license. In the document, a storage portion has a message that the document is rights management protected, and a custom data portion has a section including the protected content. The recipient if enabled can render the protected content in the custom data portion and if not enabled can only review the storage portion having the message. An enabled recipient handles the received rights-managed document by recognizing that the document has the protected content in the custom data portion thereof, and discounting the storage portion of the document. Thus, the recipient examines the custom data portion of the document and proceeds based thereon to render the protected content in the custom data portion.

Abstract:

This disclosure describes techniques of using a single instance of a network service application to provide a network service on behalf of multiple subscribers of a data center. As described herein, a data center may execute an instance of a service application that provides a service that is used by web applications that serve web sites associated with different subscribers of the data center. The instance of the service application stores service-specific data associated with the different web sites in separate partitions of a database. Storing the service-specific data associated with different web sites in separate partitions of the database enables the instance of the service application to control the data used to perform the service on a subscriber-by-subscriber basis while allowing for shared data between subscribers.
