Abstract:
In a selective soldering machine (FIG. ), a calibration circuit board (FIG. ) makes contact with a solder wave (FIG. ). The calibration circuit board ( ) is interfaced with a desktop computer unit (FIG. ) through a optoisolator unit (FIG. ). The desktop computer unit ( ) records which of the contact points (FIG. ) distributed on the calibration circuit board ( ) come into contact with the solder wave ( ). This data is then used to establish the solder contact area (FIG. ) as a function of the various parameters of the selective soldering machine ( ). These parameters include the flow rate and flow pressure of solder from the solder pot, the angle of inclination of the electronics board (FIG. ), the speed of the solder pump ( ), the distance from the leads ( ) to the solder wave ( ), the motion vector which a gantry ( ) applies to the electronics board ( ), and any preheating which may be applied the electronics board ( ).

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370: Get up to speed on the latest developments
"We've had so much information come out and so much contradictory information come out, that I caution against jumping to any types of conclusions at this point," said Mark Weiss, a former American Airlines pilot and CNN aviation analyst. If the plane had been flying at 12,000 feet, CNN aviation analyst Mark Weiss said, it would have burned more fuel than it would at a higher altitude, which could mean projections about where it ended up are off base.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370: How do passenger jets change flight paths?
Changing the flight path is simple, according to Mark Weiss, a former Boeing 777 pilot. He says a pilot can punch a few commands into the airplane's flight management system, which operates a little like a car's GPS.
