Abstract:
A golf club head in accordance with the invention includes a forward striking face that comprises a substantially planar recessed surface and a plurality of discrete, solid geometric shapes projecting forward from the recessed surface. Each of the geometric shapes has a volume of less than 0. 0007 mm. The distance along the recessed surface between adjacent shapes is at least 0. 1 mm. The total volume of the geometric shapes contained with a square reference region measuring 2. 5 mm by 2. 5 mm is less than 0. 05 mm.

Abstract:
A golf club head in accordance with the invention includes a front wall defining a forward striking face having an engineered texture thereon. The engineered texture includes a prescribed, regular pattern of discrete, geometric shapes spaced at least 0. 1 mm apart from each other, each shape having a volume that is less than 0. 0007 mm. Preferred methods of manufacturing the engineered texture of the forward striking face include treating the face by chemical etching, precision micro-saw-cutting, and laser cutting. The engineered texture enhances the performance of the golf club head upon striking a golf ball, providing one or more of an increased high backspin, a lower launch angle, and a higher balls speed, as compared to a golf club head not incorporating such an engineered texture.
Atomically Sharp Edged Cutting Blades And Methods For Making Same
An atomically sharpened cutting edge for a cutting instrument is described. Focused ion beam (FIB) milling provides the atomically sharp cutting edge. In one embodiment, a cutting edge blank is provided and milled by FIB to form an atomically sharp edge. In another embodiment, a metal cutting edge blank is provided, a layer of a harder material is provided on at least one side of the blank and it is milled by FIB to form an atomically sharp edge.

Abstract:
A coated ice skate blade includes an ice skate blade having a plurality of sides and a bottom, and a compressive coating applied to the sides of the ice skate blade. Also provided is a method of producing a coated ice skate blade including receiving an ice skate blade having a plurality of sides and an unground bottom, applying a compressive coating to the sides and the bottom of the ice skate blade, and grinding the bottom of the ice skate blade to produce a radius of hollow. Another method includes receiving an ice skate blade having a plurality of sides and a ground bottom, and applying a compressive coating to the sides and the bottom of the ice skate blade.
A transdermal medication delivery system in which a housing includes a power source for supplying programmed current pulses to an electrical current path which includes an electrically charged medication and a body location at which the medication is placed. The level of the current pulses and the time over which they are provided is controlled to deliver a predetermined dosage of the medication to the body location at a predetermined rate.
A dental materials dispenser is disclosed with an actuator operated by an electronically controlled motor. The dispenser may be used in conjunction with a disposable cartridge removably mountable in the dispenser. The cartridge includes a hollow needle comprising an integral heating element along its length. An electronic controller regulates the speed and direction of the motor and the current delivered to the heating element.
