According to the National Weather Service, a whopping 21 inches of snow pummeled the Erie area between midnight and 7 p.m., shattering the previous record set in 2002 when 8.1 inches of snow fell on Christmas Day, confirmed Martin Thompson, a hydro-meteorological technician.
