Abstract:

A method for near real time data communication is disclosed. The method includes discovering a first device associated with a first location, determining available data from the first discovered device, and inserting a listing for the first discovered device into an electronic program guide (EPG). A data structure in memory is disclosed that includes a device identifier field for containing data indicating an identifier for a discovered device, a name field for containing data indicating a name associated with the discovered device, a receiver available field for containing data indicating a data receiver is available for the discovered device location, an electronic program guide (EPG) field for containing data indicating an EPG and an EPG2 field for inserting listings for discovered device data into the EPG for display to a user at an STB. A system is disclosed for near real time data communication is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A method of providing information regarding lockbox receipts to a customer having a lockbox account, the method comprising the steps of: having alert criteria containing alert conditions selected by the customer; creating a database file for each of the receipts of the lockbox account which are received after the customer has selected the alert criteria, each of the files comprising a plurality of fields containing data relating to a respective one of the receipts, the alert criteria defining certain of the fields as containing data to be compared against the alert conditions; comparing the alert conditions with the data of the fields of the database files defined by the alert criteria; and alerting the customer that one or more of said files contain data that have met the alert criteria.

Abstract:

A process is disclosed for obtaining selected item data from a media processor, wherein the selected item data indicates an item used by an actor in a video data stream. The video data stream includes data representing the item used by the actor and icon data including multiple icons associated with a number of mobile devices. Selected icon data is obtained from the media processor, indicating a selected one of the number of mobile devices. Advertising data for the selected item is provided to the selected one of the number of mobile devices via a communication network. The advertising data is sent when the selected one of the number of mobile devices comes in proximity with a merchant having the selected item in stock. A system is disclosed for performing the process. A machine-readable device is also disclosed for use by the system and process.
