Abstract:

An apparatus for producing multiple light displays comprises: a discrete light source emitting at least one primary color; a circuit for driving the light source; a flexible tether secured to the light source; a handle secured to the flexible tether; and a control actuator. The drive circuit produces each of multiple time-dependent drive signals. The handle enables a user to move the light source along a curvilinear path at the end of the tether, the time-dependent drive signal and movement of the light source together producing the light display. The control actuator enables the user, while moving the light source along the curvilinear path and without substantially interrupting movement of the light source, to (i) alter the time-dependence of the drive signal and/or (ii) select another of the time-dependent drive signals for driving the light source, thereby altering the light display.

A customizable, portable, object-oriented expression parser and evaluator provides the ability to customize syntactic and semantic elements of expression parsing and evaluation via class inheritance and interface implementation. The customizable expression parser/evaluator provides independence from a fixed variable resolution process, provides flexibility in the data types used for representing numbers and other values, and provides notifications that allow inspection and validation during expression parsing and evaluation. The customizable expression parser/evaluator utilizes a class library that supports mathematical expression parsing according to rules that can be customized by developers using object orientated programming. The customizable expression parser/evaluator class library provides a set of classes to parse and evaluate mathematical and logical expressions. Abstract:

Methods, systems and devices are provided for presenting event feedback information regarding participants to an event. A first radio of a first participant device carried by a first participant receives a first checkpoint communication from a checkpoint device at a first checkpoint located along a first course of the event. The first checkpoint communication includes a first checkpoint identifier and a first event time reflecting when the first participant crossed the first checkpoint. A first checkpoint event time is determined based upon the first checkpoint identifier and the first event time. Also, the first checkpoint event time is displayed on the first participant device. Further, a checkpoint device and an event server may be used to in presenting the event feedback information.

Abstract:

Method and apparatus for presenting audio and visual information to an audience by streaming, broadcast, live and recording presentations including a generally transparent pane having one end disposed proximate an end of a reflective pane to form an apex with an acute angle. In use an imaging device is disposed between the generally transparent pane and the reflective pane and oriented to image a reflection of the generally transparent pane off of the reflective pane. In operation a lecturer positions themselves in front of the generally transparent pane and performs an audio and visual presentation by writing written material on the surface of the generally transparent pane facing the lecturer. The imaging device, imaging a reflection of the generally transparent pane off the reflective pane, images a left-to-right reversal of the writing on the generally transparent pane thereby rendering it readable by a viewer.

Abstract:

Method and apparatus for presenting audio and visual information to an audience by streaming, broadcast, live and recording presentations including a generally planar display screen, a light source directing light towards the display screen, a video camera oriented towards the display screen so as to image a lecturer through the display screen and a filter disposed between the display screen and the video camera. In one embodiment the light source emits light in predominately blue wavelengths and the filter blocks at least 85% of light at approximately the same wavelengths. Visual information may then be beneficially written by a lecturer on the display screen using a fluorescent marker pen. In operation an image output of the video camera is reversed in left-to-right orientation so that visual image information written by a lecturer onto the display screen is reversed from an orientation of this information viewed through the display screen.

Abstract:

A solar desalination system that heats sea water in pressurized columns and controls the release of the steam so that energy can be generated. The heating columns normally operate in parallel and are heated by cylindrical mirrors which concentrate sunlight on each heating column. The heated sea water is turned to steam and ejected out of the heating column to a turbine for power generation. The resulting water is then fed to a water tank.
