Abstract:

A platform of the type holding a plurality of normally-open electric switches in position for activation of a selected individual switch by application of a force in a direction normal to a surface of the switch by a portion of a human body. An exemplary platform according to the invention forms a dance platform on which a user steps to activate switches in accordance with instructions viewed on a video display device. A joining structure may by used to hold two platforms in a side-by-side competition arrangement. A security vault may be affixed to structure associated with platform to resist theft of a commercially available game controller adapted to operate the video display and to receive switch input from a platform. Certain aspects of the invention include one or more, typically inert, practice platforms structured to represent the user interface surface of an activatable platform. A method for using a system of active and inert platforms is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A method of operating a computer system includes storing attributes of a buying organization, vendors, invoices and/or line-item details from invoices in one or more databases. Rules are established for selecting settlement options for the invoices. The rules are applied such that the computer system selects a first one of the settlement options to settle a first one of the invoices rendered by one of the vendors, and the computer system selects a second one of the settlement options to settle a second one of the invoices rendered by that vendor.

A customizable, portable, object-oriented expression parser and evaluator provides the ability to customize syntactic and semantic elements of expression parsing and evaluation via class inheritance and interface implementation. The customizable expression parser/evaluator provides independence from a fixed variable resolution process, provides flexibility in the data types used for representing numbers and other values, and provides notifications that allow inspection and validation during expression parsing and evaluation. Abstract:

A solar desalination system that heats sea water in pressurized columns and controls the release of the steam so that energy can be generated. The heating columns normally operate in parallel and are heated by cylindrical mirrors which concentrate sunlight on each heating column. The heated sea water is turned to steam and ejected out of the heating column to a turbine for power generation. The resulting water is then fed to a water tank.
