Advertisements are incorporated into alerts generated for a user. A server-side alert delivery system can be used by a partner server, client device, or other server to deliver an alert to a user about some event the user has requested. A relevant advertisement is selected based upon the content of the alert and other data. In some cases, the time of day of the alert and/or the location to which the alert is delivered may be considered in selecting the advertisement. The alert may be provided to a user through different services and devices, including an instant messaging service, mail service, or through a mobile device.

Abstract:

A bulk data distribution system in which, instead of multiple data consumers contending to access the same data sets from a primary data store, one or more producers capture snapshots (states of the data sets at particular points in time) and upload the snapshots to an intermediate data store for access by snapshot consumers. The snapshot consumers may download the snapshots to generate local versions of the data sets for access by one or more data processing applications or processes. A snapshot producer may periodically generate full snapshots of a data set, and may generate one or more incremental snapshots of the data set between full snapshots. A snapshot consumer may bootstrap a local data set from a full snapshot and one or more incrementals, and may maintain state of the local data set by accessing new snapshots uploaded by the producer.

A method and a device are disclosed including a user interface software component configured to dynamically display and manage grouped graphical representations, such as tiles, of electronic data and messages, such as files and emails, that are rendered based on relevance scores, and are associated with two or more user accounts. Abstract:

A method and a device are disclosed including a user interface configured to display and manage grouped graphical representations of electronic data and messages, such as files and emails, that can be zoomed in to access different types of information and details about one or a group of messages. The user interface further allows searching for, dispositioning, and taking various actions on one or a group of messages. In various embodiments, the graphical representation includes grids of grids or tiles, and in other embodiments, it includes fractal representations such as quadratic fractals. At least four types of zoom operations are disclosed including digital zoom to enlarge images, context-zoom to show different information types about messages like folders, categories, collections, etc. depending on context; semantic-zoom to show different data depending on level of detail; and metadata-zoom to show metadata about a message such as timestamp, existence of attachments, and the like.
