Abstract:
An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing defining a bottom of the applicator instrument, a firing system disposed in the housing and being moveable in distal and proximal directions along a first axis, a handle extending upwardly from the housing along a second axis that defines an acute angle with the first axis, the handle having an upper end that defines a top of the applicator instrument, and a trigger mounted on the handle for actuating the firing system. The applicator instrument includes an elongated shaft extending from the housing, the elongated shaft having a proximal section that extends along the first axis and a distal section that is oriented at an angle relative to the proximal section for extending upwardly toward the top of the application instrument. A distal end cap has a proximally sloping distal face and a dispensing window for dispensing surgical fasteners.

Abstract:
An implant for placement within a hollow body organ having a member with an undeployed shape, for delivery within a hollow body, and one or more deployed shapes, for implantation therein. The member has sufficient rigidity in its deployed shape to exert an outward force against an interior of the hollow body so as to bring together two substantially opposing surfaces of the hollow body. The implant also includes a means for changing the deployed shape of the member while implanted within the hollow body.

Abstract:
An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, an elongated shaft extending from the housing, the elongated shaft having a proximal end coupled with the housing and a distal end remote therefrom, and a firing system for dispensing surgical fasteners from the distal end of the elongated shaft. The firing system includes a firing rod disposed in the elongated shaft, the firing system having a firing cycle with a first stage for advancing the firing rod toward the distal end of the elongated shaft at a first rate of speed and a second stage for advancing the firing rod toward the distal end of the elongated shaft at a second rate of speed that is greater than the first rate of speed.

Abstract:
A surgical fastener for securing a prosthetic device to tissue includes a first leg having a proximal end, a distal end, a first insertion tip at the distal end, and a first articulating joint that separates said first leg into a proximal segment and a distal segment that is deflectable relative to the proximal segment, and a second leg including a proximal end, a distal end, a second insertion tip at the distal end, and a second articulating joint that separates said second leg into a proximal segment and a distal segment that is deflectable relative to the proximal segment. A bridge connects the proximal ends of the first and second legs for forming a closed end of the surgical fastener. After implantation in tissue, the insertion tips are deflectable away from vessels and nerves to minimize injury to the vessels and nerves, and to minimize patient discomfort and pain.

Abstract:
A suture needle driving instrument comprises a shaft, an end effector, and a handle assembly. The end effector is located at the distal end of the shaft and includes a pair of grasping arms operable to grasp and release a needle. The handle assembly comprises a trigger-operated actuation assembly that is operable to rotate a second grasping arm relative to the shaft. The trigger-operated actuation assembly may include a trigger and a trigger gear assembly that is operable to rotate the second grasping arm. A clutch assembly may also be included to selectively couple a drive shaft associated with the second grasping arm to another shaft. The handle assembly may further include a toggle actuation assembly that is operable to grasp and release a needle with the grasping arms. A locking feature may be included to prevent use of the toggle actuation assembly until trigger-operated actuation assembly has been operated.

An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, a firing system disposed in the housing and being moveable in distal and proximal directions along a first axis, and an elongated shaft extending from the housing, the elongated shaft having a proximal section and a distal section that is oriented at an angle relative to the proximal section. A plurality of surgical fasteners are disposed in the elongated shaft. The applicator instrument has a handle that extends upwardly from the housing along a second axis that defines an acute angle with the first axis. A trigger is mounted on the handle, and a linkage couples the trigger with the handle and the firing system. When the trigger is squeezed, the linkage guides the trigger along a linear path of movement relative to the handle.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure include techniques for transferring non-power of two (2) bytes of data between modules of an integrated circuit over an on-chip communication fabric. In one embodiment, the present disclosure includes an on-chip communication fabric, a first module comprising an interface coupled to the fabric having a first data width, and a second module comprising an interface coupled to the fabric having a second data width smaller than the first data width. The non-power of two (2) bytes of data are sent between the first and second modules through the fabric, and the fabric maps the non-power of two (2) bytes of data between the first and second data widths.
